Chris Evans and Robert Downey Jr. could not be more well cast as Steve Rogers and Tony Stark if they tried.

And though their relationship may be not the greatest at the moment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the two actors remain good friends in real life.

On Wednesday, March 13, Robert Downey Jr. tweeted an image created by artist Hot.Kenobi of Iron Man and Captain America being shielded from some sort of ammunition fire. Hot.Kenobi uses action figures to stage scenes for their photography. Downey shared their artwork before.

Downey included the caption:

"BFFs let you share their umbrellas, right @ChrisEvans?"

BFFs.

Aww.

But Chris Evans retorted perfectly—quippy and sassy, but respectful.

So very Steve Rogers of him.

Fans are loving the genuineness of this exchange.

...And then some.

Even fellow MCU actor Mark Ruffalo couldn't help but respond.

Avengers: Endgame marks the possible end of both RDJ and Chris Evans' times in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Following post-production and re-shoots, Chris Evans tweeted an emotional goodbye to the role of Captain America.

Leaving fans to reflect on the bittersweetness that the fourth and final Avengers film will bring with it.

As for RDJ's Iron Man?

Well, it's looking like the mantle may pass, but not as we expect.

"There is nobody who can take over Iron Man from Robert. I don't think the audience would accept that," Infinity War co-director Joe Russo told CInemablend.

"He never mentioned to us about leaving Iron Man, but it will happen at some point of time."

The country is waiting with baited breath for Avengers: Endgame. The damage done to the MCU's population in Infinity War was so dire and so unfathomably tragic that the next step can only drive it further.

And with the appearance of Carol Danvers, we think there will be one hell of a fight for the way earth used to be.
