AOC Was Asked If She'd Ever Consider Dating A Conservative—And Her Answer Has People Nodding Hard

After TMZ reporter Charlie Cotton asked her if dating a conservative is "anything you would ever entertain," New York Democratic Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez gave a straight answer that has observers nodding in agreement.

The congresswoman is newly single and Cotton wanted to know what's next for her following the end of her engagement to Riley Roberts.

His question had her cracking up and she replied:

“I have to say it’s uh, probably not."

When Cotton asked her if she's recommending that people" "don't date across the aisle," she answered:

“No, no foul to people who do. And, of course, how you define that is very different from person to person, right? But I think a lot of politics sometimes, at least for me, is about values, and being aligned in values I think is tremendously important.”

In response to Cotton's question about whether or not she'll have children "in office because your future is bright," Ocasio-Cortez said:

"First of all, one of the things I hear from a lot of parents its that there's never the right time or a perfect time. I think that for a very long time I was very concerned. You know, if you're a working person here you've faced a lot of constraints with a lot of other working people across the country and it was very hard for me to imagine very basic things."

"For a very long time it was very hard for me to imagine being able to have a baby here when childcare is so expensive and I acknowledge that relative to many Americans I am in a place of privilege and even I don't know how it would be possible." ...

"I've had that thought. I think sometimes these conversations about political speculation happen two-dimensionally, right? 'Is she gonna run for this or is she gonna run for that?' And for me, I make decisions about my whole life, right? It's not, it's not ever just in a career context, it's about how do I fit all of these things."

"And I feel like my ambition is not just a career ambition. It's about how do we get to soak up as much of this life as possible and sometimes that has to do with doing really aspirational things with work, and sometimes it has to do with really big aspirational things with love and family, and I was always raised as a family first kind of person."

Many appreciated the frankness of her response.

Ocasio-Cortez recently faced criticism from conservatives for her decision to freeze her eggs instead of having kids at a younger age.

Ocasio-Cortez opened up about her decision in a series of Instagram Stories, saying she had been setting money aside for the procedure for “a very long time." She also spoke about what she sees as a lack of accessible information for women considering egg freezing.

In one video, she argued that women are often poorly prepared for major stages of their reproductive lives—from puberty and pregnancy to perimenopause and menopause—and said that guidance is similarly lacking for those deciding whether or not to have biological children.

She noted that the Trump administration "is denying reproductive care to women across the country, from abortion rights to the ability to carry out a healthy pregnancy, I think it's important for us as leaders to have these conversations and share these processes, especially for working women across the country."
