Jack Morris, the team announcer for the Detroit Tigers, has been suspended and put on leave after using a racist mock Asian accent during a Tigers at Los Angeles Angels game.

Morris's mock accent was directed specifically at Shohei Ohtani, a Japanese player and the pitcher for the Angels.

The moment, called "deeply disappointing" by the Tigers' team management, will force Morris to undergo bias training before he returns to his position.

The apology Morris issued as well left something to be desired.

"I sincerely apologize if I offended anybody," he said, before referring to Shohei Ohtani as "Jose."

Morris, an ex-baseball pitcher himself, once told a woman, Jennifer Frey, who had been assigned to interview him in the locker room, that he didn't "talk to women when I'm naked unless they're on top of me or I'm on top of them."

When Frey complained to the Miami Herald, who gave her the assignment, the Tigers said that the paper had a "lack of common sense" for assigning a woman to the interview.

Morris, who was inducted into the Hall Of Fame in 2018, is only on his second regular stint of broadcasting for the Tigers.

Ice is thin.

Trump has escalated a growing trade war by imposing tariffs of up to 145% on Chinese imports, prompting China to retaliate with its own 125% tariffs on American goods. Additionally, the U.S. has slapped a 10% tax on imports from most other countries, while temporarily suspending higher rates for several nations for 90 days.
