JD Vance Dragged After Fumbling Awkwardly While Trying To Slam Democrat During Speech In Iowa

Vice President JD Vance was widely mocked after he fumbled in his attempt to criticize Democratic congressional challenger Sarah Trone Garriott, an Iowa state senator, during a speech Tuesday.

As Vance tried to craft a political hit against Garriott, he got completely lost and struggled openly to find his place, even asking Republican Rep. Zach Nunn, for whom he was stumping at the Des Moines event, to bail him out.

It was the latest in a long series of awkward moments for Vance, who has shown himself to be an awkward campaigner at best.

Vance said:

“When I see Iowa farmers who need to get that [gasoline-ethanol mix] E15 to market, what is, uh, this, what is, uh... Zach you’re gonna have to help me out with her name here. I lost my page here.”

When Nunn answered him, Vance continued:

“OK, all right, there we go. Sarah Trone Garriott. ... I’m on the wrong page here.”

It was an embarrassing affair and Vance was mocked profusely for it.

Garriott is the polar opposite of Vance and Nunn.

Speaking at PickAway Americana, Garriott argued that the rising cost of living is being exacerbated by Nunn’s support for tariffs, which she said place additional financial strain on Iowans.

According to one local news source, she also criticized Nunn for backing military action involving Iran without congressional oversight, warning that the conflict could drive up fertilizer costs and further burden farmers already struggling to maintain strong crop yields.

At one point, Garriott, who previously served as a hospital chaplain, recalled personally meeting every member of a rural church congregation she once led and said that, even while representing a Republican-leaning district in the state senate, she made a point of visiting Republican and independent households alike to engage directly with constituents.
