Football fans are getting a hearty laugh following yesterday's Super Bowl after recently retired superstar quarterback Tom Brady tweeted a joke about his first Super Bowl game as a spectator rather than an NFL member.

Brady took to Twitter to share a screenshot of a once all-important iPhone calendar notification he forgot to delete after his former team, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, were ousted from the Super Bowl after their playoff lost earlier this year.

Along with the reminder about the big game, marked "time sensitive," Brady included a simple one-word caption that summed it up perfectly: "Sh*t..." And fans are loving it. See Brady's tweet below.

This year's Super Bowl, between the Los Angeles Rams and Cincinnati Bengals, was certainly a milestone for Tom Brady. After launching his career in 2001 with the New England Patriots, Brady made it to the NFL playoffs all but in all but two seasons, and played in 10 Super Bowls, seven of which his teams won.

But 2022 was not his year. In the playoffs this season, his second with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after transferring to the franchise in 2020, Brady and his team were vanquished by the Los Angeles Rams after just two games.

The end of the season would turn into a more final ending for Brady—he retired two weeks ago following the loss, saying he wanted to spend more time with his children and wife, model Gisele Bündchen.

But it seems in all the sea change he forgot to delete the football-related notifications from his phone, a thing fans found instantly relatable. After all, who among us hasn't experienced a twinge in the guts after forgetting to delete a partner's birthday notification after a break-up or that all-important meeting from our calendar after getting fired?

And on Twitter, some fans were hoping the notification might just inspire Brady to come back to the sport--especially to play for the 49'ers in his hometown of San Francisco.

It may see implausible, but there may well be hope for Brady fans. Asked about a potential return to the NFL in a recent interview following his retirement, Brady demurred, but added that one should "never say never."
