People Explain Which Things Society Should Stop Making People Feel Insecure About

People Explain Which Things Society Should Stop Making People Feel Insecure About

Just let people be....

Why can't we just let one another live in peace? Society has gotten so out of control when it comes to policing one another's lives. Like... who made you judge and jury of the culture? I like to wear white after labor day. I'll laugh as loud as I want in a library and wear clothes from Walmart. Live with it!

Redditor u/selcouthsiren wanted to discuss what we can do to cease the negative by asking... What should we as a society stop making people feel insecure about?

The Peace

Being quiet.

"You never say anything" is such a weird way to both draw attention to someone and give them nothing to work with.

Life after Diplomas....

Trade school/gap years- college right after HS isn't for everyone. even Some of my smartest friends- top of my class should've taken a gap because they burned themselves out getting 95-97% avgs throughout HS.

jthorne00

Exactly! I'm one of them. I never should have jumped into college.

I went for something I was talked into (because it paid a lot), was miserable, changed majors, still wasn't happy. Graduated with a degree, 13 years ago, that I never used.

I didn't know what I wanted to do. I needed time to figure it out. And money isn't all that matters.

Ways to Learn

Being wrong. It's okay to be wrong, just be open to learning. Instead of doubling down or getting angry.

waitingtospeak

I was looking for this answer. People would be a lot smarter if we could all just admit when we don't know, or when we have been wrong about something!! There is always room to grow, and it's more than okay to change your mind.

Your choice of career.

Another one: not having having a dream career.

the years go by....

Aging and the unavoidable physical changes that come with it.

This is so well said. On one hand, I know how grateful I should be to be alive and healthy and able to experience aging; on the other hand, seeing grey hairs and fine lines when I look in the mirror is very disheartening.

Blame Illusion

Making any kind of mistake. Social media has created an illusion that everyone has to be perfect.

luneaux

We have a "no blame" culture at work. It's more important to get stuff working again than it is to know who's fault it was.

Yes, we work out what happened, but only so we know how to avoid similar issues in the future.

It's very refreshing.

Don't be an Elitist....

Your job. Too many people are elitist about someone's occupation and look down on essential workers.

Cherly2020

Or look down on boring jobs. I have a stable, relatively well paying job as an accountant and I have had several comments from friends and family making fun of me or making snide comments about how boring my job/life is like I've totally sold out because I'm not a teacher or an artist. I think because it's such a safe career choice they feel like they're not punching down but it just makes me feel really lame and embarrassed. Boring jobs pay bills!

Face Feeling Yourself GIFGiphy

Having acne, it doesn't mean you're dirty or don't wash your face. it's simply a skin condition some people get and some people don't.

The Stigma....

Mental health struggles. There's absolutely nothing wrong with taking time to figure out what process works for you, despite why people around you might want to tell you.

Papabearto2

Had to scroll down a lot to find this, and I wish it was higher up.

Mental health/mental illness is a real issue for a lot of people, and society in general has a hard time understanding them and are quick to judge, making the ones who struggle with it feel insecure about asking for help and getting treatment. Shame this stigma still exists in 2021.

The Sweat

Exercising in public. To me anyone giving it a go, no matter their physical ability, deserves praise!

Technical-Ad-1676

Honestly from my experience most gym rats are the most encouraging to heavy people. A few of the guys I used to "work out with" (just be at the gym the same time every morning).

Kinda made it a point to say small comments to this very heavyset guy that worked out at the same time as us in the morning "you got this brother." "Keep up the good work man" "you're looking good man." This guy's face always lit up and he always pushed harder when anyone encouraged him.

Woman Says What We're All Thinking About Trump Deploying ICE To Airports In Blistering Interview

A woman interviewed at Newark Liberty International Airport in New Jersey has gone viral for her response to reporters who asked for her thoughts about President Donald Trump's announcement that he would deploy ICE agents to U.S. airports amid a partial government shutdown that has caused exceptionally long delays at TSA lines nationwide.

ICE agents are still getting paid during the shutdown, unlike TSA agents, who are currently working unpaid and struggling amid the affordability crisis. News outlets have confirmed ICE agents have been deployed in airports that serve Democratic strongholds, particularly John F. Kennedy and LaGuardia Airports (New York), O'Hare International Airport (Chicago), and others.

Stephen Miller Caught On Camera Letting Out Heavy Sigh As Trump Tries To Justify Iran War

White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller was caught on camera letting out a heavy sigh as President Donald Trump spoke at a Memphis Safe Task Force roundtable in Tennessee about his ever-changing justifications for going to war with Iran.

A WSMV 4 Nashville broadcast showed Miller briefly turning his head and letting out a sigh as Trump described Iran’s missile capabilities as “growing so fast” that the U.S. needed to act before it became “virtually impossible to stop them.” Miller then composed himself and faced forward again toward the president, who was seated at center stage.

Video Of ICE Detaining Sobbing Mom At San Francisco Airport As Her Young Daughter Watched Has People Seeing Red

MAGA Republican President Donald Trump's administration is coming under fire again over White nationalist White House advisor Stephen Miller's immigration guidance.

Campaigning on a promise to deport violent criminals, the Trump administration has instead become the violent (often masked) aggressors that Americans fear. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) employees have repeatedly targeted individuals without warrants or just cause based solely on racial profiling, denied people's constitutional rights, and killed people in their detention centers and on the streets with impunity.

Kinks Guitarist Dave Davies Vehemently Shuts Down Moby's Accusations That 'Lola' Is 'Transphobic'

A decades-old rock classic is back under scrutiny, but Dave Davies isn’t letting Moby’s critique of "Lola" go unanswered. In a Guardian “Honest Playlist” Q&A, Moby singled out the track as one he “can no longer listen to,” arguing that its lyrics haven’t aged well.

The “South Side” singer didn’t hold back in his critique:
