The former reality TV star shared several photos she took with Spears 17 years ago to celebrate how they 'created the selfie'—and fans are into it.

Paris Hilton took to social media this week to boldly claim she and Britney Spears "created the selfie"—and she brought the receipts!

The Paris in Love star shared several selfies of herself cozied up to the "Toxic" singer with the caption:

"17 years ago, Britney and I created the selfie! 👯♀️🤳🏻"
"Tag me in your most epic selfies to celebrate the most iconic invention 🔥✨"

And fans were ever so thankful, with many reminiscing about the early 2000s when the hotel heiress and pop star were influencers long before the term's social media existence.

A few, however, did counter her statement.

On Monday, Hilton once again made the claim on X, writing:

"In the 2000s, I invented the selfie 📸"
"What have you done with my invention since then?!"

The socialite shared a video featuring herself snapping several selfies.

In her memoir The Woman in Me, Spears addressed her legendary nights out in Hollywood with Hilton, noting they were "never as wild as the press made it out to be."

Spears also claimed Hilton was "kindest to me when I really needed kindness" when the singer was struggling with postpartum depression after going through her divorce.

She wrote of Hilton:

"So much of America dismissed her as a party girl, but I found her elegant — the way she posed on the red carpet and always had an arched eyebrow when anyone was mean about her."
"She saw that I had babies and that I was suffering from the breakup, and I think she felt sorry for me."
"She came over to my house, and she helped me out so much. She was just so sweet to me."

On the day of the memoir's release, Hilton shared her excitement on social media, writing she's "so proud" of her "sis."

We love the continued support these two have for each other.

Trump Repeats Debunked Claim He Predicted 9/11 'A Year Before' It Happened In Bizarre Rant During Iran Remarks

President Donald Trump was called out for repeating his debunked claim that he predicted the September 11 terror attacks "a year before" they happened—all while speaking at the White House about his war with Iran.

Trump was addressing growing concerns about tanker traffic through the Strait of Hormuz, a narrow passage at the entrance to the Persian Gulf that carries roughly 20% of the world’s oil supply. While the strait falls under international maritime law, Iran maintains substantial influence over the corridor.

MAGA Influencer Says Trump Seems 'Demonically Possessed' In Brutal Post Slamming Iran War

A 2024 study found a stronger belief in the existence of demons and adherence to a "shadow gospel" was associated with more favorable views of MAGA Republican President Donald Trump. The shadow gospel refers to versions of Christianity and conservatism conjured through anti-liberal messages with little to no basis in actual scripture.

Trump traded on the beliefs of Christian nationalist factions among his MAGA minions by calling the Democratic Party "demonic."
