The actor, who won an Independent Spirit Award for his guest-starring role on HBO's 'The Last of Us,' spoke out about exactly why there was a need for the gay love story episode—and fans couldn't agree more.

During his acceptance speech at the Independent Spirit Awards on Sunday, Nick Offerman blasted "homophobic hate" aimed at his episode of The Last of Us, and fans of the show are cheering.

Offerman took home the award for Best Supporting Performance in a New Scripted Series for his guest-starring role on the hit HBO show. Offerman's episode, “Long, Long Time,” told the 20-year love story of survivors Bill and Frank (played by Murray Bartlett).

While fans of the series hail the episode as possibly the greatest of the show's entire run thus far, homophobes were absolutely up in arms over the focus of the romance. They were so offended, in fact, that they went as far as to review-bomb the episode on IMDb.

Well, Offerman had a thing or two to say to the homophobic trolls in his speech.

He first thanked HBO for having the "guts" to tell the emotional story of Bill and Frank.

“Thanks to HBO for having the guts to participate in this storytelling tradition that is truly independent."
“Stories with guts, that when homophobic hate comes my way and says, ‘Why did you have to make it a gay story?’ We say, ‘Because you ask questions like that.’”

He added:

“It’s not a gay story, it’s a love story, you a**hole."

People on social media applauded the Parks and Recreation star for putting bigotry and hate on blast.

And others took the opportunity to express their love for both the episode and Offerman's performance.

In his speech Offerman also, as always, hilariously thanked "my bride, my puzzle coach and legal property" Megan Mullally.

Season 2 of The Last of Us is expected to be released in 2025.

We cannot wait.

Abrego Garcia, a Salvadoran national who arrived in the U.S. in 2012, was labeled a threat in 2019 due to an alleged connection to MS-13. He spent months in detention before an immigration judge found he had a credible fear of persecution—not from MS-13, but from a rival group, Barrio 18, which he said had been extorting his family.

Leavitt Lashes Out At Amazon Over 'Hostile' Plan To Display Added Tariff Costs For Products On Website

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt lashed out at Amazon over news that the commerce giant planned to display increased "import charges" on items on their Amazon Haul website, essentially showing to customers the extra money they'd have to shell out as a result of President Donald Trump's tariffs.

Trump has escalated a growing trade war by imposing tariffs of up to 145% on Chinese imports, prompting China to retaliate with its own 125% tariffs on American goods. Additionally, the U.S. has slapped a 10% tax on imports from most other countries, while temporarily suspending higher rates for several nations for 90 days.
