The lifestyle guru responded after an Instagram post showing her Maine living room's recent transformation was met with a flurry of negative comments.

Author and home lifestyle guru Martha Stewart said she was "surprised" by all the judgmental comments regarding the recent living room transformation at her home in Maine.

Last week, the 82-year-old founder of media and merchandising company Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia took to Instagram to speak out against the negativity.

"I rarely read all the comments that come in after I post but because I was so happy at the transformation of my Maine living room," Stewart wrote in the caption accompanying a photo of her home makeover.

She continued:

"I did go through many of the comments and was surprised at the harsh judgment so many displayed !!!"

The photo showed the monochromatic beige aesthetic of her living room, filled with tan leather furniture and accented with black iron furnishings.

A hearth served as the focal point of the accent wall, which was adorned with an avian-inspired motif of framed artwork.

"I and my Maine helpers spent three hours moving out the old furniture and putting in the new," she wrote, noting that "#we were pleased that the pieces actually fit the room and were proportionate to the large size of the space."

Stewart also said the transformation was not intended as a "decorator's" professional installation but one that attempted to "change quickly and efficiently."

"Making a house a home, or a room a beautiful livable space takes a lot more than three hours," she stressed.

The former host of The Martha Stewart Show and Martha Stewart Living, which shared cooking, interior design, and arts and crafts tips with American audiences for nearly three decades, added:

"Of course there will be color, plants, mirrors, a new rug or two and other art and objects Stay tuned!!!!"
"And by the way the birds are chromo lithographs by Carroll Tyson known as the "6Audubon of Maine" -so beautiful."

She couldn't convince everyone to appreciate the work that went into the changes.

Here are some examples of some of the harsh reviews from amateur designers.

Her recent successes have continued to attract critics.

In June 2022, Stewart launched her first original podcast, called The Martha Stewart Podcast, in partnership with iHeart Radio. The first episode featured her bestie, Snoop Dogg.

She didn't stop there.

Later that year, she introduced three new shows on The Roku Channel, which included Martha Gardens, Martha Cooks, and Martha Holidays,

Finally, last May, the octogenarian became the oldest model to be featured on the cover of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue.

Regardless of one's opinion of her, there's no doubt this queen is here to slay.
