The pop icon spoke out on Instagram after having trouble getting a film about her life off the ground before asking fans if they think her story would work better as a TV series or a movie—and fans weighed in.

Long-time "Queen of Pop" Madonna has a lot of fans, especially among Gen-X and Millennials, and anyone well-versed in pop music knows how extensive and varied her career has been.

Now 66, the singer has decided to tell her story, but rather than add to the overflowing genre of celebrity memoirs, she wants her story portrayed on film.

More interestingly, she wants to be directly involved in the writing and production, unlike the beloved Bohemian Rhapsody and Rocketman, both successful biopics covering the stories of Queen and Elton John.

Unfortunately for the artist, the process has been far from easy, with potential producers questioning Madonna's involvement in the production of her own story, as well as the general breadth of the project, citing it as too extensive.

Madonna reflected:

"After struggling for days in LA, listening to producers and agents tell me why I couldn’t make my film, [them telling me] to downsize, downscale, think smaller, I realized that everything in my life is going to be challenged. No easy rides for me."
"I guess I should be grateful. It forces me to think outside the box."
"I did not have a normal life. I cannot make this in the normal way."
"Spending time with my creative friends was just the fuel I needed to keep going! We all agreed that we need to be even more fearless. Art is survival. We cannot shrink and make ourselves smaller."
"If you want something badly enough in life, the whole universe will conspire to help you get it."

The pop singer then asked her fans:

"Should I make the story of my life into a series or a feature film? Think before you answer!"

Fans had a lot of thoughts about Madonna's plans.

Most thought a film would not allot enough time to dig deeply into Madonna's lengthy, complex, and edgy history, and voted instead for a TV series.
