Fox News

The Biden administration continues to face widespread criticism for its chaotic withdrawal of U.S. troops from Afghanistan to end 20 years of war in the region.

The nation descended into chaos as the fundamentalist Taliban regime retook control after the Afghan government collapsed faster than any simulations predicted. This resulted in thousands flocking to the Kabul International Airport in a bid to escape Taliban rule and retaliation. Last week, terrorists targeted the airport and a suicide bomb killed more than 100 Afghans and 13 U.S. service members.

Prominent right-wingers have been especially critical of the withdrawal's execution. Former President Donald Trump's daughter-in-law, Lara Trump, recently joined that chorus, but her condemnation seemed to gloss over recent history.

why is the US coordinating with the Taliban -- ask Trumpyoutu.be

Ms. Trump said in a segment on the conservative Fox News network:

"The fact that we are relying on the Taliban for anything I think is very frustrating to many people in America. We don't understand why we are basically partnering with a terrorist organization for so many people."

In reality, it was former President Donald Trump's administration who first established diplomatic relations with the Taliban, who harbored perpetrators of the September 11 attacks. The Trump administration sought a meeting with leaders of the group at Camp David on the week of the attacks' anniversary.

In 2020, the Trump administration brokered a withdrawal deal with the Taliban, releasing 5000 of its imprisoned members, lifted U.S. sanctions against the group, and lobbied for the United Nations to lift its sanctions on the Taliban as well.

Trump said at the time:

"I really believe the Taliban wants to do something to show we're not all wasting time."

People didn't hesitate to remind Lara Trump of the goodwill her father-in-law's administration bestowed upon the Taliban.

The recent debacle in Afghanistan has brought renewed scrutiny to Trump's policy on the region.

More than 100 thousand people have been evacuated from Afghanistan this month.

Trump Bizarrely Clashes With Reporter Over Photoshopped 'Tattoo' On Abrego Garcia's Knuckles

President Donald Trump sparked criticism after claiming during an interview with ABC News’ Terry Moran that an edited photo depicting tattoos of wrongly-deported Maryland father Kilmar Abrego Garcia showed that he has an alleged connection to the MS-13 gang.

Abrego Garcia, a Salvadoran national who arrived in the U.S. in 2012, was labeled a threat in 2019 due to an alleged connection to MS-13. He spent months in detention before an immigration judge found he had a credible fear of persecution—not from MS-13, but from a rival group, Barrio 18, which he said had been extorting his family.

Leavitt Lashes Out At Amazon Over 'Hostile' Plan To Display Added Tariff Costs For Products On Website

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt lashed out at Amazon over news that the commerce giant planned to display increased "import charges" on items on their Amazon Haul website, essentially showing to customers the extra money they'd have to shell out as a result of President Donald Trump's tariffs.

Trump has escalated a growing trade war by imposing tariffs of up to 145% on Chinese imports, prompting China to retaliate with its own 125% tariffs on American goods. Additionally, the U.S. has slapped a 10% tax on imports from most other countries, while temporarily suspending higher rates for several nations for 90 days.
