Gwendoline Christie Admits 'Wednesday' Is The First Time She's 'Ever Felt Beautiful On Screen'

The 'Game of Thrones' star said director Tim Burton and costume designer Colleen Atwood were to thank.

Last week, the world saw actor Gwendoline Christie as Principal Larissa Weems on the new Netflix series Wednesday. The Tim Burton comedy horror follows Wednesday Addams' attempt to solve mysteries, investigate murders and endure typical teenage drama—albeit supernatural—at Nevermore Academy.

Christie, who we've seen in The Hunger Games, Game of Thrones and Star Wars, sees herself in a different light in this series. The actor said for the first time she "felt beautiful on screen."

Christie told Entertainment Weekly Burton gave her freedom when it came to visualizing and creating the character.

"He said, 'You can do whatever you like with the character, feel free to make it whatever you want and we'll keep talking about it."
"And that was an unbelievable opportunity from this great cinematic master."

Christie shared her vision of Weems was a "Hitchcock-style heroine" and "weirdly" Burton and costume designer Colleen Atwood had the same idea.

She stated there was a difference, however, in her character.

"But whereas Hitchcock heroins tend to have all sorts of trauma being exacted upon them, for this to be a woman who was in charge of her own fate, who was ruthlessly ambitions and who was willingly putting herself into dangerous and extreme situations, was exciting to me."

Christie—praising the team that brought her idea to life—continued:

"It's the first time I've ever felt beautiful on screen."

She added Atwood specifically made her body feel "celebrated and beautiful."

"Never once did I feel like there was something to hide or something to be ashamed of."
"She made me feel incredible."

Seriously stunning.

And fans completely agree.

She is absolutely beautiful.
