Oklahoma Representative Markwayne Mullin recently introduced a resolution that would "expunge" former President Trump's second impeachment—the one that came about after the January 6th insurrection attempt.
House Republican leadership seems to support it.
House GOP Conference Chair Elise Stefanik and other House Republicans have voiced support for this resolution, likely hoping to stoke the support of pro-Trump voters in anticipation of this year's midterm elections.
Stefanik tweeted her support of the resolution, making sure to get plenty of far-right buzzwords into her tweet, posting:
"Pelosi's impeachment of President Trump was a political WITCH HUNT."
"I stood up against this unconstitutional impeachment and I'm proud to support a resolution with [Markwayne Mullin] to expunge this smear against President Trump & millions of patriots."
Pelosi's impeachment of President Trump was a political WITCH HUNT.

She also told Fox News Digital:
"The American people know Democrats weaponized the power of impeachment against President Donald Trump to advance their own extreme political agenda."
"From the beginning of this sham process, I stood up against Nancy Pelosi’s blatant attempt to shred the Constitution as House Democrats ignored precedent and failed to follow the legislative process."
"But President Donald Trump was rightfully acquitted, and it is past time to expunge Democrats’ sham smear against not only President Trump’s name, but against millions of patriots across the country."
Mullin accused Democrats of using the impeachment to "weaponize" the powers of the House in a statement.
"Democrats used their second impeachment resolution to once again weaponize one of the most grave and consequential powers of the House."
"This was never about the Constitution; it was rooted in personal politics."
Twitter users were dubious of Mullins' reasons to obfuscate Trump's misdeeds and Stefanik's drive to support him.
Gosh, I’ve always just assumed that trying to overturn an election in one of the proudest democracies on earth was almost a textbook high crime or misdemeanor.

No, it really wasn’t. Neither of them. And they’re forever. Thoughts and prayers.

Even Trump himself congratulated Mullin and Stefanik for their efforts to clear his name.
Thank you President Trump for recognizing @MarkwayneMullin and my legislation that would expunge Nancy Pelosi and House Democrats’ unconstitutional impeachment.
The American people know the truth and this legislation will make that truth absolute. pic.twitter.com/ULFc9ELM24

This isn't the first time Mullin has tried to expunge a Trump impeachment.
He introduced a similar resolution after Trump's first impeachment. He claimed Democrats had "abused our Constitution for their political gain" in impeaching Trump the first time too.
