Not all project mashups are good. Sometimes they're phenomenal.

Like the recent appearance of several Sesame Street characters in the Saturday Night Live writers' room, looking for a new take on writing their sketches.

Mikey Day, Kenan Thompson, Ashley Padilla, and Sarah Sherman sat around a pitching table, along with Sesame Street‘s Elmo, Cookie Monster, Grover, Abby Cadabby, Oscar the Grouch, and the Two-Headed Monster, to discuss.

Saturday Night Live enthusiasts will appreciate the many callbacks during the characters' pitching of ideas, like eating cookies "down by the river" like Chris Farley, a terrible haircut sketch with Grover, Elmo bringing back the "Domingo" series with "Elmingo."

Of course, there had to be something for the Sesame Street and TikTok fans, with the suggestion of skipping over the tired Rocko jokes.

A favorite moment, though, was when the two teams were talking about Saturday Night Live, and Elmo excitedly asked if he could do his impression of Lorne Michaels.

Wearing a suit and putting his hands professionally behind his back, Elmo said:

"Well, you know, it's the first we were all together: Paul and Paul and Snuffleupagus..."

Fans were impressed by how well Elmo did the impression while still sounding like himself.

Others were really eager to see the Sesame Street characters host Saturday Night Live and be more involved in the writing of at least a few sketches.

This was such a fun and adorable mashup to see. The writing was genuinely funny and it was great to see how the Sesame Street gang brought new life to some of the ideas that people have loved the most over the years about Saturday Night Live.

Perhaps it would be a good idea to let them host and bring new ideas to the writers' room! It would certainly be exciting!
