Trump Rails Against Media For Not Covering His Two Nobel Peace Prizes That He Didn't Actually Win

Trump Rails Against Media For Not Covering His Two Nobel Peace Prizes That He Didn't Actually Win

President Donald Trump's quixotic pursuit of a Nobel Peace Prize once again took center stage at a campaign rally this weekend in the swing state of Pennsylvania.

The President is one of the 318 nominees for the prize this year—his second nomination—but at the rally, he bizarrely seemed to say that he'd already won. Twice.

Watch below.

The President said:

"Somebody had a show where they said the amount of time devoted to Donald Trump's Nobel Peace Prize — two of 'em — [was] zero on the networks, zero. It is so disgraceful. They're so bad."

As HuffPost points out, Trump has been corrected by FactCheck.org for repeatedly confusing a Nobel Prize win with a Nobel Prize nomination, which anyone meeting the nominator requirements can submit.

Trump did specifically say it was a nomination during an anecdote about him and First Lady Melania Trump, in which the couple was disappointed because news networks were covering Hurricane Sally instead of the nomination.

People mocked Trump for the petty and misleading rant.

Trump's yearning for a Nobel Prize is seen by some as a remnant of his animosity toward former President Barack Obama, who won the prize in 2009 and whose work the Trump administration has fought to undo.

Trump critics pointed out this purported inferiority complex.

Trump was nominated for the prize by Christian Tybring-Gjedde, a far-right member of Norway's Parliament.
