Would You Live In One Of These Floating Pyramids? They're Not As Pricey As You Might Think

Climate change pushes sea-level up each year, threatening coastal and island communities' way of life. Within a few years, island nations like the Maldives could be completely under water. However, one architecture design firm, Lazzarini Design Studios, thinks they have the solution: floating communities. It's a daring idea, but if the actual buildings are as nice as the renderings they've drawn up, there will definitely be some interested people.

"Wayaland" would consist of 20 floating pyramids. Welcome to the future!

The studio believes the community would feature "10 homes, three hotels with a total of 20 suites, two restaurants, and five smaller buildings."

And don't worry! Though the forests of the past have long been drowned beneath the endless sea, there's a nice greenhouse in your new floating utopia.

The floating city's centerpiece would be a 100-foot-tall pyramid that would put most of our homes to shame.

The design firm isn't yet sure how much a place in Wayaland would cost but rest assured...rent won't be cheap.

Lazzarini told Business Insider that the pyramids were inspired by ancient Mayan and Japanese designs.

Most of the time, the steel structures would remain attached to the ocean floor by cables.

But with the help of solar power...

...they can hit the open seas at anytime!

The garages of the future will look a little different:

But Lazzarini is already preparing mankind for the change. They began selling their motor boat, the Jet Capsule, in 2013.

Though many are skeptical of the project actually coming to fruition, Lazzarini plans to begin construction of Wayaland in 2022.

Hope to see you all in our new floating homes!
