Enjoying many movies—especially the ones that come out of Hollywood—demand that age old capacity at the root of enjoying so many forms of art: the temporary suspension of disbelief.

When we sit down to watch a movie, we make a commitment. We decide to spend an hour or two swept up in the logic of some kind of fantasy.

Sure, movies strive for a flare of realism, but they do take some liberties. Things line up perfectly for the good guy or good editing makes things seem twice as awesome for everybody.

Or perhaps it’s the way time is warped, shortened, or extended to accommodate the needs of story and character development.

Some Redditors gathered to share their favorite bits of fantasy from the movies

polysyllabic91 asked, "What unrealistic things in movies do you LOVE?"

EPIC

"When music syncs up with whats going on" -- obviouslyAtrocious

"I feel like it's a mistake to not sync the music with what's going on." -- watch-me-do-medbay

"How about when the music is playing as someone is walking along and then we see they're wearing earphones and it fades out when they take them off?" -- peon47

Excellent Balance

"Fights on moving trains rooftop" -- Dexter1399

"I just wanna see all the passengers staring up at the roof listening to the thumps as they run around." -- Pagan-za

"Or when they stop fighting for a second and lie flat for a tunnel and then continue fighting" -- bullockalayna14

Moving Things Along

"Montages. They're such a more efficient way of getting things done. I wish I could rock out a nice training montage where I'm portly at the beginning and ripped at the end." -- HoopOnPoop

"Hot Fuzz was amazing for montages of the most boring stuff like paperwork or getting a pint. Living an Edgar Wright movie is basically living an editor's perfect world." -- CompetitiveProject4

Plenty of Hours in the Day

"When people have time for diner breakfasts before work or school. LOVE IT! Wish I had time in the mornings to go out and meet someone for food." -- OMVince

"I would have the time as I'm crazy and wake up at 5am, but I know no one else who would want to see me or speak to me at 6am nor any place serving food at that hour."

"It would still be dark out." -- ramune_0

Tough to Implement

"People in their 30's with super close friends that they'd do anything for." -- testerpants

"Seriously tho! They always have a group of really close friends they go out with all the time. I have like two friends and we hardly get to hang out and we don't text each other 24/7 like the movies." -- bullockalayna14

Choreography

"When people are talking (serious or jokingly) but no one is talking over or interrupting anyone else. Everyone just respects the others time to talk." -- hencethe

"I realized that's partly why I love the dialogue in series like Firefly and Aaron Sorkin ones like The West Wing and The Newsroom. People get to say a clear, eloquent thought before someone else does the same." -- Faust_8

What are the Chances?!

" Aliens who speak Earth languages." -- ImALittleCrackpot

"I like the little hand-wave in series like Star Trek and Mass Effect that everyone is speaking their own native languages and that auto-translators are at work in the background so that everyone can understand each other."

"I especially like the implication that Capitaine Jean-Luc Picard is saying everything in French, including expressing his love of Shakespeare and tea." -- lesser_panjandrum

Double Power Is Too Fun to Watch

"The bad guy joining forces with the good guy to fight an even worse guy" -- tilobrim

"This happens more often in TV series, rather than movies, but I agree with you."

"Or sometime, the protagonist and antagonist will call a temporary truce when a worse guy come around, but as soon as the worse guy is defeated, the protag and antag resume their fight." -- PokeBattle_Fan

"Isn't this basically ww2" -- fandral20

How Convenient

"How the exact subject you want to know about, is showing on the news at that exact moment." -- gozba

"you could have a funny moment is a character calls, 'Quick, put on Channel 7 news," and they're a fews seconds too late,p.'" -- dr_hermes

Impeccable Coordination

"Chase scenes. They're always so damn well done somehow." -- FrickFrackImInAShack

"Yes, especially that there is always room to drive during rush hour." -- georgke
