Snoop Dogg Hit With Backlash After Saying He's 'Scared' To Go To Kids' Movies Due To LGBTQ+ Representation

The rapper called out a perceived increase in LGBTQ+ representation in kids' movies, telling the It's Giving podcast that he's "scared to go to the movies" after taking his grandson to 2022's Lightyear.

Rapper and grandparent Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr.—who performs under the name Snoop Dogg—is drawing criticism for his latest homophobic comments, years after the performer claimed he was a reformed bigot.

Speaking on the It’s Giving podcast, Broadus recalled watching the Disney Pixar Toy Story spin-off Lightyear, which included a blink-and-you'll-miss-it kiss between two women, married to each other, that had homophobes calling for boycotts when the film came out in 2022.

Broadus claimed his grandson asked him:

"Papa Snoop, how she have a baby with a woman? She’s a woman."

The rapper whined:

"Aw sh*t, I didn’t come for this sh*t, I came here to watch the goddamn movie. Y’all throwing me in the middle of this sh*t that I don’t have an answer for … it threw me for a loop."

People familiar with Lightyear called out the reference for making a mountain out of a mole hill.

Broadus revealing he is still anti-LGBTQ+ can't come at a worse time for the Australian Football League (AFL). The organization is facing harsh criticism for hypocrisy after hiring Snoop Dogg to perform at their Grand Final in September.

Andrew Dillon, chief executive of the AFL, defended paying the 53-year-old rapper $2 million, saying it was important for people to recognise Snoop Dogg as the "person he is today."

Unfortunately for Dillon, one day later Broaduz revealed the person he is today is the same homophobe who came under fire in 2017 for targeting rapper Young Thug and who posted homophobic slurs online.
