Sarah Sanders Slams Media For 'Malicious Lies'—Then Gets Blunt Reminder Of Her Own Past

The fallout from an Atlantic article detailing allegations from former Trump staffers that the President called military veterans "losers" and "suckers" continues to swirl.

And the latest chapter in the saga involves former White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders, who dramatically came to the President's defense, posting a video in which she calls The Atlantic's story a lie.

But the internet was quick to remind Huckabee Sanders that we don't have much reason to believe her, since she testified under oath to the FBI in 2018 that she lied for the President while serving as press secretary.

Huckabee Sanders posted her video on Sunday.

In her impassioned defense of the President, Huckabee Sanders claimed that the allegations against him, which she called "malicious lies," were in direct opposition to his character.

"Donald Trump has the greatest amount of respect for the men and women of our armed forces. That story couldn't be further from the truth."
"This is a president that loves our country and will do anything to fight to protect it."

The Atlantic piece alleges Trump referred to fallen World War I soldiers as "losers" and "suckers" while refusing to visit the Aisne-Marne American Cemetery in France in 2018.

But Huckabee Sanders's characterization contrasts directly with public comments Trump has repeatedly made about several military service members, most notably Senator John McCain. In a 2015 campaign event, Trump mocked McCain for being captured and held as a prisoner of war for more than five years in Vietnam.

The stark contrast between Trump's public statements about military members and Huckabee Sanders's characterization of him is perhaps unsurprising given Sanders' own admission to the FBI in 2018 that she lied for the President.

During the Mueller probe, Sanders testified under oath that she lied to the press about former FBI Director James Comey's firing, chalking it up to a widespread dislike of Comey within the Bureau. Sanders testified that that assertion was "not founded on anything."

And on Twitter, people lined up to jog Sanders's memory that her credibility is in question.

And many felt like if anything, Sanders's vote of confidence proved Trump's guilt.

And many found Sanders's video just plain absurd.

The allegations of Trump's contempt for military service have been verified by several media outlets, including the extremely Trump-friendly Fox News.

Agriculture Secretary Gives Truly Bleak Description Of A Cheap Meal Option For Americans—And Wow

Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins was criticized for attempting to downplay rising food costs by sharing her rather dystopian idea of a $3 meal for American consumers amid the ongoing affordability crisis.

Rollins claimed that food prices were coming down, even as the latest Consumer Price Index shows grocery costs rising 0.7% in December. Some staples climbed far faster. Beef—which Rollins elevated near the top of the food pyramid in the dietary guidelines she unveiled this month—increased 1% over the month and was up 16.4% compared with a year earlier.
