'The View' cohost shared the meme with several laughing emojis on X as Republican Rep. Kevin McCarthy was voted out as House Speaker.

Conservative commentator Ana Navarro shared a hilariously brutal meme inspired by the holiday classic Home Alone in response to the news that now-former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy had been ousted from his position.

The View co-host responded with several laughing emojis on X, formerly Twitter, above a meme with the following message:

"One of these two Kevins successfully defended their house."

By now everyone likely knows the story of Home Alone, but in case you don't—and where have you been?—it's the classic tale of a young boy who must defend his house from a duo of robbers who break into it on Christmas Eve. The film spawned a sequel in which the clever child takes down the same two men after accidentally ending up in New York City during the holidays.

The meme also mocks McCarthy, whose ouster makes him the first Speaker of the House of Representatives to ever be removed from the role during a legislative session.

Social media users responded positively to the meme—and criticized McCarthy in the process.

Florida Republican Representative Matt Gaetz, who initiated the "motion to vacate" leading to McCarthy's removal, acknowledged the possibility of an outsider campaign for the speakership. He expressed willingness to support current members of Congress for the role but did not rule out considering individuals outside the body, since the U.S. Constitution does not require the Speaker to be a sitting member of Congress. Donald Trump is among those being recruited by some GOP members.

The chain of events began when Gaetz objected to McCarthy's handling of a stopgap spending bill to avert a government shutdown. The bill ultimately passed with bipartisan support, prompting the vote against McCarthy. Notably, McCarthy is the first House Speaker to be removed by their colleagues, with eight other Republicans and all House Democrats voting for his ouster.

The final vote count stood at 216 members in favor of removing McCarthy, with 210 opposed.
