TikToker @jacbfood wondered why he was having trouble falling asleep before discovering caffeine is an ingredient in his lotion—but can it really cause sleep issues?

A TikToker's suspicion that a nightly moisturizer could be the culprit depriving him of sleep was seemingly confirmed when he made a shocking discovery that also made perfect sense.

TikToker @jacbfood's video, captioned, "What business do they have adding this to a lotion," went viral after he shared with viewers his findings about the nefarious lotion.

The clip starts with a closeup of his face and his wet hair, presumably following a shower, with the TikToker looking utterly baffled.

The overlaying text reads:

"Nawwww why is my lotion an energy drink bro I was wondering why I couldn’t fall asleep last night."

He shows us the product he's holding, which is a bottle of Hydrate by G Gentlemen, a "unique Australian Gold Lightweight Ultra-Hydrating DermaDark TM infused Tan Extender/Moisturizer" according to the product's website.

He then flips the bottle over to show the ingredients, only to reveal one of them is *gasp* caffeine.

Here's the clip.

What business do they have adding this to a lotion

The TikToker explained to The Daily Dot how he felt "stimulated" and "couldn’t sleep" for an hour and a half later than normal.

He continued:

"I didn’t even think to check the lotion, but I noticed the next morning that it had caffeine in it when I randomly checked the ingredients."

However, he still had doubts about the lotion contributing to his sleeplessness.

"But I can’t entirely say it was the caffeine that caused me to stay awake," he added.

Commenters on his TikTok video thought he might be onto something.

Some claimed that their skin benefitted from applying topical caffeine, while others said its effects were too potent.

Others thanked him for the unsolicited recommendation.

All that being said, a blog from Westlake Dermatology refutes the theory that his lotion of choice was responsible for keeping him from getting a full night's sleep.

The entry observes that "caffeinated skin care products have small concentrations of caffeine and therefore are not designed to keep you awake at night."

According to the product detail for Hydrate by G Gentlemen, "The Toning Caffeine Shot works to help energize and tone skin for improved texture and a revitalized complexion."

Even Trump's NASA Director Had To Set Kim Kardashian Straight After She Said The Moon Landing 'Didn't Happen'

Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy—who is also NASA's Acting Administrator—issued the weirdest fact-check ever when he corrected reality star Kim Kardashian after she revealed herself to be a moon landing conspiracist.

Conspiracy theorists have long alleged the moon landing was fabricated by NASA in what they claim was an elaborate hoax—and Kardashian certainly made it clear where she stands in a video speaking to co-star Sarah Paulson on the set of the new Hulu drama All’s Fair.

Special Olympics Fires Back At Kid Rock With Powerful Statement After He Used 'The R-Word' To Describe Halloween Costume

MAGA singer Kid Rock was called out by Loretta Claiborne, the Chief Inspiration Officer of the Special Olympics, after he used the "r-word"—a known ableist slur—to describe his Halloween costume this year.

Kid Rock, whose real name is Robert James Ritchie, was speaking with Fox News host Jesse Watters when he donned a face mask and said he'd be going as a "r**ard" for Halloween. Watters had guessed he was dressed as Dr. Anthony Fauci, the former director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases who spearheaded the nation's COVID-19 pandemic response.
