Lizzo Offers Powerful Explanation For Why She Exercises—And It's Not To Lose Weight

The singer explained that while 'weight loss comes with the territory' when exercising, the 'goal' is much bigger.

We just can't get enough of her inspirational messages on body positivity.

Body positivity movement advocate and trailblazer Lizzo recently responded to a TikTok that struck a chord with her.

A creator posted a video about exercising that stated:

"Weight loss comes with the territory, but I'm not trying to escape fatness."

Lizzo stitched the TikTok and added her two minutes:

“I think a lot of people see a fat person that way and immediately just assume everything they are doing is trying to be thin."
"I’m not trying to be thin. I don’t ever want to be thin."

She added while pointing to her head:

"The goal is always here."

The "About Damn Time" singer continued:

“Once I started working out for mental health, to have balanced mental health for endorphins, so that I don’t look at myself in the mirror and feel ashamed of myself and feel disgusted with myself, exercise has helped me shift my mind — not my body.”

Lizzo continued that physical fitness is a requirement of her job, especially considering the rigor of her 90-minute shows each night, and it's necessary to keep her mentally fit, as well.

“My body is going to change, everyone’s bodies change. That’s life, that’s what the human existence is …"
"But embracing the fact that your body changes, that’s a part of it. And making sure that this is what we have the power over."
“Everything I eat, everything I do, every time I move my body, it’s all for this. If this ain’t happy, none of this is happy.”

Viewers expressed their gratitude to the Grammy-award winner and agreed with her perspective.

Twisters, directed by Lee Isaac Chung, is a standalone sequel to 1996's Twister that's received generally positive reviews from critics since its release this past weekend. The movie made $80.5 million over its opening weekend—just shy of what Harris raised in the immediate aftermath since President Joe Biden dropped out of the race and endorsed her to be his successor.
