Leaked Kremlin Memo Urged Russian Media to Air Tucker's 'Essential' Pro-Putin Rants 'as Much as Possible'

Leaked Kremlin Memo Urged Russian Media to Air Tucker's 'Essential' Pro-Putin Rants 'as Much as Possible'
Fox News // Mother Jones

It's no secret that far-right Fox News host Tucker Carlson has repeatedly promoted talking points in favor of Russian President Vladimir Putin, who recently upended global diplomacy with his invasion of Ukraine, the fledgling democratic nation that formed from the U.S.S.R.'s collapse in 1991.

When Trump was facing his first impeachment for withholding congressionally approved military aid for Ukraine in an effort to force investigations into then-candidate Joe Biden back in 2019, Carlson said he was rooting for Russia over the United States' ally.

In more recent rants, Carlson has suggested that American Democrats pose more of a threat to the United States than Putin, and further claimed that Ukraine isn't a democracy but a "client state." Carlson backed down from this stance eventually, claiming that his team didn't take the prospect of an invasion seriously because Vice President Kamala Harris was involved in diplomatic talks with European nations on the matter.

Carlson's rant have already been aired on state-friendly Russian media to bolster support among everyday Russians for Putin's war.

Now, a memo from the Kremlin, uncovered by David Corn of Mother Jones, revealed that Putin was explicitly urging Russian media outlets to air Carlson's diatribes.

The document was called For Media and Commentators (recommendations for coverage of events as of 03.03), reads in part:

“It is essential to use as much as possible fragments of broadcasts of the popular Fox News host Tucker Carlson, who sharply criticizes the actions of the United States [and] NATO, their negative role in unleashing the conflict in Ukraine, [and] the defiantly provocative behavior from the leadership of the Western countries and NATO towards the Russian Federation and towards President Putin, personally."

Putin has repeatedly trafficked in disinformation to bolster his power. Disinformation was a key ingredient in the Kremlin's efforts to interfere in the 2016 presidential election. Since the start of the invasion, which has seen heavy opposition from Russian citizens, the state has disseminated lies to justify it. Carlson has also echoed these false justifications to his millions of viewers.

Sadly, few were surprised that Carlson's broadcasts were assisting the Russian government's revisions of reality.

That didn't spare Carlson from heavy criticism.

Carlson has yet to respond to the report.

MAGA Rep. Ripped For Changing Story About Why He Sleeps In His DC Office To Fit Trump Agenda

Tennessee Republican Representative Tim Burchett was criticized for claiming that he "lives" in his office because of crime in Washington, D.C., even though he gave a completely different reason earlier this year to explain how he maintains productivity.

Burchett's remarks came as President Donald Trump federalized the Metropolitan Police and deployed about 800 National Guard troops to the nation’s capital this week while claiming crime in D.C. is "out of control" despite falling crime rates.

Sorbo gripes about Vikings cheerleaders

American actor and sudden cheerleading morality police Kevin Sorbo appeared to spontaneously combust online when the Minnesota Vikings announced the addition of two male cheerleaders to their 2025 squad.

Born in Mound, Minnesota, Sorbo has long cultivated his brand of brawny, bicep-flexing alpha male heroics—playing Hercules in Hercules: The Legendary Journeys, Captain Dylan Hunt in Andromeda, and starring in the 2008 parody Meet the Spartans, where he famously shared an on-screen kiss with Sean Maguire’s King Leonidas.
