The actor shared an Instagram video on Saturday to address the 'medical complication' that left him hospitalized in April.

Jamie Foxx just spoke out for the first time since a medical complication left him hospitalized in April.

Though general updates and brief interactions had been shared by family and friends, Foxx himself had not addressed his health until Saturday, when he shared an emotional video on Instagram.

In the post, a tearful Foxx thanked his fans for their support and shared:

“I cannot even begin to tell you ... how far it took me and how it brought me back."

While the actor didn't reveal the specific cause of his hospitalization, he did note:

“I went through something that I thought I would never go through.”

Foxx acknowledged his fans' desire for an update but admitted:

“To be honest with you, I just didn’t want you to see me like that, man."
“I wanted you to see me laughing, having a good time, partying, cracking a joke, doing a movie, a television show.”
"I didn't want you to see me with tubes running out of me and trying to figure out if I was going to make it through.”

He also expressed his gratitude that his daughter Corinne and sister Deondra Dixon were successful in protecting him and keeping the media at bay.

Foxx continued:

“I did go to hell and back. My road to recovery had some potholes as well but I’m coming back, and I’m able to work.”

You can watch the video below.

Friends and fans alike flooded the comments with love.

His daughter Corinne wrote:

He concluded by sharing his love for all his fans and assuring:

"I'm on my way back."
