Janelle James credited the free alcohol with her decision to give a shoutout to her mom after the show won Best Musical/Comedy Series at the Golden Globes.

Let's be honest here. We've all demonstrated some questionable behavior after a round or five of adult beverages. Most of us, however, didn't display it on national television like Janelle James.

James was recently on The Jennifer Hudson Show and opened up about the incident.

In case you've forgotten, back in January at the Golden Globes James' comedy Abbott Elementary won the Best Musical/Comedy Series award. The cast took the stage to accept the award and one of the show's stars Sheryl Lee Ralph took over the mic after creator Quinta Brunson gave her speech.

Before Ralph was finished, however, James jumped in and yelled directly into the mic:

"I love you, mom!"

Cut to Wednesday when Hudson asked her about that moment and James was honest. She revealed she partook in the "free drinks" and decided she really wanted to talk to her mom.

"First of all, I was drunk, that's one thing."
"I had ben texting with my mom the whole time, so I was like, 'I'm going to talk to my mom.'"

James continued:

"But not to be disrespectful to Ms. Sheryl Lee Ralph, just had a little..."

She made a drinking gesture with her hand, much to the audience's amusement.

You can watch James explain "the speech" below followed by more awards show shenanigans and her journey to Abbott Elementary.

Gavin Newsom Just Epically Trolled JD Vance Over Tariffs With An AI Video About Couches

California Governor Gavin Newsom mocked Vice President JD Vance—and his love of couches—with an AI-generated video to troll him over the rising costs of goods due to President Donald Trump's retaliatory tariffs.

Earlier this week, Trump announced new tariffs: 10% on softwood timber and lumber, and 25% on “certain upholstered wooden products,” set to take effect October 14. The move follows Trump’s announcement last week of additional tariffs on kitchen cabinets, vanities, and other upholstered products, which will take effect October 1.

College Announcer Apologizes After Sparking Outrage With Body-Shaming Comment About Plus-Size Dance Team

In the United States, there are 107 Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs)—schools founded when segregation laws and racist policies kept Black men and women from higher education. The schools developed their own unique culture and customs around stepping, marching band, drum majors, and majorettes.

HBCU majorettes march with the band, dance, and have stand battles during games. The dance style and moves are unique to Black culture, but have spread beyond the HBCUs to high schools and dance schools across the country.
