Irish Embassy In U.S. Hilariously Roasts Bad Accents After Trailer For 'Wild Mountain Thyme' Drops

Irish Embassy In U.S. Hilariously Roasts Bad Accents After Trailer For 'Wild Mountain Thyme' Drops
Lionsgate

The Irish embassy in the US joked that Emily Blunt and Jamie Dornan present “a remarkably realistic depiction" of Irish people in the trailer for their new film Wild Mountain Thyme.

“We are a beautiful people," they added.

The film, written and directed by John Patrick Shanley, also stars Jon Hamm and Christopher Walken and tells a love story set against the landscapes of rural Ireland.

Dornan and Blunt play star-crossed lovers Anthony and Rosemary, whose families are caught up in a feud over a hotly contested patch of land that separates their two farms.

Anthony spends most of his time working in the fields, worn down by constant belittling, following his father's threat to bequeath the family farm to his American cousin, Adam.

Rosemary appears to hold a grudge for having been shamed by Anthony in childhood, but her mother, Aoife, strives to unite the families before it is too late.

Before they can face their feelings, Adam arrives to romance Rosemary with a trip to New York.

The accents in the trailer have been met with some confusion, with the Irish embassy in Washington DC sharing the trailer on Twitter.

“To be fair, Irish accents are hard (we struggle with them at times). But otherwise #WildMountainThyme looks great," they wrote.

“And, in Jamie Dornan & Emily Blunt, presents a remarkably realistic depiction, visually at least, of the average Irish man & woman. Truly, we are a beautiful people," they continued.

Many agreed and shared their own experience with accents.

They also highlighted other aspects of the movie.

“There's fashion police. Grammar police. We even have airport police," Dublin Airport's official Twitter feed said.

“Is there such a thing as accent police? If so, somebody better call 'em. On the upside, Ireland looks nice."

Many want to see talented Irish actors in the big screen!

Regardless, you know we'll be watching the movie as soon as it's out.

Michael Jackson Fans Called Out Over Their Deranged Reaction To Paris Jackson Talking About Her Late Dad

Paris Jackson is no stranger to public scrutiny—but this time, the backlash isn’t about her. It’s about fans of her late father, Michael Jackson, and the increasingly unhinged way they’re responding to her simply speaking about him.

It all started when Entertainment Tonight shared a red carpet interview from the Vanity Fair Vanities party, where Jackson was asked about the upcoming Michael Jackson biopic. The film stars her cousin, Jaafar Jackson, as the King of Pop, with Colman Domingo portraying family patriarch Joe Jackson.

Riley Gaines Ripped For Bonkers Attempt To Discredit Tim Walz After He Condemns Trump's Genocidal Threat To Iran

Former NCAA swimmer and current transphobic conservative darling Riley Gaines was criticized for a desperate attempt to discredit Minnesota Governor Tim Walz after he condemned President Donald Trump's genocidal threat to kill the "whole civilization" of Iran.

Trump has insisted that God supports his war on Iran and declared—before a provisional ceasefire was announced—that "a whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again" ahead of a deadline to bomb Iran’s power plants and bridges that legal scholars and world leaders have said would constitute war crimes.
