Trump Sparks Concern After Repeatedly Confusing Alaska With Russia Ahead Of Putin Meeting
Aug 12, 2025
President Donald Trump turned heads on Monday after he repeatedly claimed he's going to "Russia" on Friday—very openly confusing the country with the state of Alaska, the actual location where he plans to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin for a highly anticipated summit.
Trump made the mix-up during a press conference about crime in Washington, D.C., where he has already moved to federalize the police and deploy the National Guard, citing inflated crime statistics that compared D.C. to Baghdad and Brasilia.
At one point, he complained:
“This is a tragic emergency, and it’s embarrassing for me to be up here. You know, I’m going to see Putin. I’m going to Russia on Friday."
"I don’t like being up here, talking about how unsafe and how dirty and disgusting this once-beautiful capital [is].”
You can hear what he said in the video below.
At another, he said:
"It's a big thing. We're going to Russia. It's going to be a big deal."
You can hear what he said in the video below.
Trump's words sparked concern—prompting many to point out that his regular verbal gaffes raise questions about his fitness for office.
The meeting will mark the first encounter between a U.S. president and Putin since 2021, when former President Joe Biden met him in Switzerland. It will also be Putin’s first visit to the United States in ten years—despite an active arrest warrant for him from the International Criminal Court (ICC).
Trump claimed his meeting with Putin will be a "feel-out meeting" and that he'll know within just a couple of minutes whether he can convince Putin to give back territory Russia stole from Ukraine after invading the country in 2022.
He said there would be "some swapping, changes in land"—and while that's not the first time he's used the phrase, he has not made clear what land Russia could cede to Ukraine.

Hillary Offers Chilling Warning After Pete Hegseth Reposts Video Of Pastors Saying Women Shouldn't Vote
Aug 12, 2025
Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton warned women around the U.S. about what's to come after Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth amplified a video about a Christian nationalist church that showed pastors saying that women shouldn't be allowed to vote.
The segment Hegseth aired was a nearly seven-minute CNN investigation into Doug Wilson, cofounder of the Communion of Reformed Evangelical Churches (CREC).
The video included a pastor from Wilson’s church calling for the repeal of women’s constitutional right to vote, another suggesting that voting should be done by households, and a female congregant stating that she defers to her husband.
You can watch the video below.
Hegseth did not explicitly call for women to have their voting rights repealed but did include the following message:
“All of Christ for All of Life.”
You can see Hegseth's post below.
A Pentagon spokesperson later defended Hegseth, saying Hegseth is “a proud member" of a CREC affiliate and he “very much appreciates many of Mr. Wilson’s writings and teachings.”
In response, Clinton issued the following warning:
"You know how people called women hysterical for predicting the right wing would take down Roe v. Wade (which they've done) and then attack access to birth control (which they're doing)? Hear me when I say that women's very right to vote is next."
Many joined her in sounding the alarm, noting that the GOP has made it very clear what they will set out to do.
None of this is surprising coming from Hegseth.
Hegseth has previously asserted "we shouldn't have women in combat roles" and that "our institutions don't have to incentivize that in places where traditionally, not traditionally, over human history men in those positions are more capable."
Earlier this year, he claimed in a post on X that he'd ended the "woke" Women, Peace & Security (WPS) program because it was an initiative created by the Biden administration. He claimed the program was "pushed by feminists and left-wing activists," adding that it's ultimately "distracting from our core task: WAR-FIGHTING."
However, it was President Donald Trump—not former President Joe Biden—who signed the Women, Peace and Security Act into law in October 2017, following bipartisan support in Congress. In fact, then-Representative Kristi Noem, now Homeland Security Secretary, was one of its original authors, and current Secretary of State Marco Rubio co-sponsored the Senate version.

JB Pritzker Explains Exactly Why Trump Is Pushing His GOP Allies To Redistrict—And He's Spot On
Aug 12, 2025
Speaking on NBC's Meet the Press, Illinois Governor JB Pritzker perfectly explained why President Donald Trump is pushing for gerrymandered redistricting in Republican-led states amid pushback from Democrats in Texas.
Redistricting has been all over the news cycle in the days since Texas Democrats fled the state to avoid voting on a new heavily-gerrymandered redistricting map and to deny their GOP colleagues a quorum, the minimum number of lawmakers required to conduct legislative business.
Under the newly proposed map, Republicans would gain five additional seats after the 2026 midterm elections—making it significantly more difficult for Democrats to reclaim the majority and potentially counter Trump's legislative priorities.
Most members traveled to Democratic-led states like Illinois, New York, and Massachusetts. In response, Trump has defended Texas Governor Greg Abbott and pointed to his own election win, saying that he "got the highest vote in the history of Texas, as you probably know, and we are entitled to five more seats."
Pritzker noted that Trump's policies, particularly those detailed in the One Big Beautiful Bill, are unpopular with voters across the country, and that Trump is pushing for redistricting because he knows he'll suffer major losses by the midterms.
He explained:
"[Trump] knows he's going to lose the Congress in 2026. That's why he's going to his allies and hoping they can save him and we've all got to stand against this."
"It's cheating. Donald Trump is a cheater. He cheats on his wives, he cheats at golf, and now he's trying to cheat the American people out of their votes."
You can hear what Pritzker said in the video below.
Many concurred with Pritzker's assessment.
Pritzker has established himself as one of the more prominent and forceful critics of Trump within the Democratic Party.
Earlier this year, he revealed that he clashed with Trump during the first Trump administration after Trump promised necessary medical equipment during the COVID-19 pandemic on the condition that Pritzker praise him publicly.
Pritzker said Trump "could have fought for us" but instead made "self-serving deals." Pritzker noted that he agreed to Trump's demand because "time was of the essence" and "my job at the time was to do virtually anything to get the White House to help us save lives.”

MSNBC Fact-Checks Trump In Real Time As He Blatantly Lies About Crime Rates In DC
Aug 12, 2025
President Donald Trump is facing criticism after he was fact-checked by MSNBC in real time as he lied about crime statistics while announcing his decision to federalize police in Washington, D.C., and deploy the National Guard in an effort to fight crime.
Trump's announcement is a significant escalation of his previous attacks on the nation's capital, which he has repeatedly referred to as "crime-infested." He claimed in his remarks to the press that D.C. is “one of the most dangerous cities anywhere in the world,” a claim at odds with Justice Department data showing that the city’s crime rate hit a 30-year low last year.
As he held up sheets of paper his administration presented as crime statistics, he claimed D.C. is a more dangerous place than other major cities around the globe including Baghdad, Panama City, Brasilia, and San Jose, the capital of Costa Rica. He also mentioned Bogota, Mexico City, and Lima.
He added:
"Do you want to live in places like that? I don't think so. And the people in this room, if you wrote correctly, you'd say, 'Look at the kind of numbers we have: 41 per 100,000.'"
"Number one than we can find anywhere in the world. Other cities are pretty bad but they're not as bad as that."
"Is that where you want to live, the reporters of the world? Juvenile offenders and crimes against persons, as they say. It's getting worse, not getting better. It's getting worse."
Trump claimed there was "a story of a man who quit because he was asked to do phony numbers on crime," assuring the press that Attorney General Pam Bondi would "look into that." He also said that crime statistics under former President Joe Biden "were a disaster and nobody did anything about it, but we're going to do things about it like you wouldn't believe."
As Trump spoke, MSNBC placed a telling crime statistics graphic next to him that showed:
- The overall violent crime rate across the U.S. is down 4.5% and down 26% in D.C.;
- The homicide rate across the U.S. is down 14.9% and down 26% in D.C.;
- The robbery rate across the U.S. is down 8.9% and down 28% in D.C.
MSNBC noted that these statistics come from Trump's own FBI as well as the D.C. Metropolitan Police.
You can watch the live fact-check in the video below.
The fact-check was effective—and Trump was swiftly criticized for blatantly lying.
A White House official said the National Guard is "being deployed to protect federal assets, provide a safe environment for law enforcement officers to make arrests, and deter violent crime with a visible law enforcement presence."
Troops are expected in D.C. on Tuesday; guard members received a notification saying the deployment order is for August 11 to September 25.

Job Interview Red Flags That Scream 'Walk Away!'
Aug 12, 2025
Everybody needs a job and money.
Well, some people just have money with no job... good for them.
But most people need a job.
And right now, times are tough.
But some jobs, no matter how desperate, people will walk away from.
A person has to procure sanity of coin sometimes.
Redditor your-reddit-plug2 wanted to discuss the job interviews that went south real fast, so they asked:
"What's a red flag in a job interview that says 'walk away?'
Hustle
"'We like to hustle and not limit ourselves to regular office hours.'"
"...NO THANK YOU!"

Offers
"When they try to offer you a salary that's lower than what they're offering. Like, the job ad says $50k-70k, but they try to offer you $40k."
AND they try to justify it by saying you're 'not experienced enough.' Except you ARE experienced enough, you might even have more than enough experience."
- Throwaway03461
"This happened to me in 2021 when I interviewed for a Project Manager role at my wife's company (albeit in a completely different division than hers)."
"During the HR screen, I stated my requested salary was $95K, 10K over what I earned at the time. The HR person said that there was no problem and passed me on to the next stage. I interviewed with the potential hiring manager and then had a two-hour panel interview with my potential colleagues."
"Everything went well, and they extended me an offer. That offer was for 75k; 20k LESS than what I asked for and was agreed upon. This was also 10K LESS than what I earned at my job at the time. There was no way in hell I was willing to take a pay cut, especially since I didn't need to."
"When pressed on the sudden decrease in salary, their HR gave me some nonsense excuse about 'band level equity' and 'unknown budgetary constraints.'"
- phlostonsparadise123
Body Language
"During one of my interviews, as I was talking to the hiring manager, I could tell he’s a little sarcastic, power tripping, bi**h. His assistant was sitting across from me, and he looked depressed, like he just wanted to quit on the spot. Sometimes the red flag is reading people's body language on how the boss enters the room."
- Sir_Wank_aL0T1
Lies...
"I once answered a few questions at an interview (as a record store manager), and their third question was 'When can we schedule a lie detector test?' Of course, not being an idiot, and knowing that this is against state law, I jumped at the chance, just for the experience."
"By the time it was over, they thought I was the Unabomber."
- DougOsborne
High Hopes
"When they expect you to treat a dead-end job like a career."
- Patient-Public9728
Stepping Stone
"My first salaried job out of college was at a small independent company that serviced the welding industry. The president (51% owner) and vice president (49% owner) were common-law married. The Director of Operations was the president's best friend and heir-apparent. The head engineer was the vice president's nephew."
"If you weren't part of that clique or weren't thin, blonde, blue-eyed, and attractive, then there was zero chance you'd enjoy any upward mobility within the company. I left for my current company after 22 months; I later heard the president b*tched me out for using him and his company as a 'stepping stone.'"
"Well, yeah, all dead-end jobs can be used as a stepping stone to something that's hopefully better."
- phlostonsparadise123
$$ Talks
"They won’t discuss salary or benefits."
- Fit-Promise262
"Yeah, it's a big red flag if they treat you wanting to know salary like you're asking something offensive."

Being Better
"Had an interview for a sales position the other day and they said they only hire women, because 'women are better at sales, am I right?' I’m a woman, but idc, f**k that sexism. Comes off as creepy as hell."
- jawshankredemption94
5 YEARS
"Interviewed for a six-figure job, and they wanted me to commit to a 5-YEAR CONTRACT while being paid 30% less than the average market rate. They said if I left before the end of the five years, there was a $50,000 penalty, and I couldn’t work at a competing business within 30 miles. I wanted to negotiate around what they were offering and at least write in guaranteed annual 6% raises to outpace inflation, but they wouldn’t even budge on that."
"So you want me to make you millions of f**king dollars while you sit on your greedy a** and, in exchange, gracefully pay me super s**t base, guarantee no raises, and keep me hostage in your business?"
"I still can’t f**king believe the recruiters seemed to try and talk me out of walking away when I said no."
- DontWreckYosef
SURPRISE!!!
"I once showed up to an interview and they seemed surprised I was there, despite it being my scheduled time to interview. It then took them an hour to track down the person who was supposed to interview me, and the secretary kept apologizing about how bad the office smelled because 'something crawled into the ceiling and died and they haven’t got it removed yet'. So yeah, there were some red flags for that place."
- productofphi
Competitive
"If you are serious about a job offer, the offer itself should be accompanied by the specific details of not just the pay, but the benefits as well. Health insurance and retirement plans are 25 percent or more of total compensation. I should not have to find out on my first day of work that you only offer exchange plans and do not offer premium support."
"Acting crazy when I ask for details on all the types of compensation is a major red flag. 'Competitive' is just not an acceptable answer. When you make an offer on a house, does your tender letter say you are willing to make a 'competitive' amount without an actual number?"
"In any other situation, you would be seen as an unserious tire kicker. Candidates deserve the same level of care and respect regarding the full financial impacts of what you are offering."
- Deplorable1861
Hostility...
"When the interview is conducted by 4 separate hostile managers who dryly fire questions at you before you can finish answering the last question. 'I'd gladly answer your question once I'm finished answering her question if I still thought I'd be interested in a position here. However, based largely on this interview process, I don't believe that's still the case. I can see myself out, thanks.'" True story."

Training
"This one's for younger people. If you have to pay money out of pocket for it, it's probably not a job. If you have to pay for 'training' or to cover the initial cost of something or other. It might be normal to pay for a uniform or something, but even that should be able to be deducted from your first paycheck or whatever."
- samsuh
I Walked Away
"When the job turns out to be something else, compared to what was mentioned in the job ad."
"I once went to an interview about a job that would end up with a degree in carpentry after working there under the supervision of a senior worker for a set time."
"What they actually offered was the job of monitoring a production line that made kitchen worktops from recycled plastic."
"I walked away."
"Some years later, the company was in the headlines for having committed a massive environmental crime, releasing microplastics and all sorts of chemicals into nature."
- Masseyrati80
Thanks, Buddy...
"I work in sales, and twice I interviewed where they said they had to lay off their entire sales staff. I turned down the second interview both times. I’ve worked in small companies that have a small sales team of 3 or 4 who quit around the same time. When your work buddy finds a better job, it inspires other team members to do the same."
- raerae1991
So, that...
"The worst job of my life, after my interview, I was talking with one of my prospective coworkers, and he told me, 'You don't want to work here.' So, that."
