Nikki, who was photographed roaming Detroit after her owner reportedly died, is now living 'the good life' after being rescued.

A dog seen wandering around Detroit clinging on to her tattered stuffy for dear life after her owner reportedly died got her happy ending after the community rallied around helping the lonely pup.

Nikki the German shepherd dog was photographed roaming the streets of the Motor City, and Michigan nonprofit Almost Home Animal Rescue League wanted to do something about it.

So, they took to Facebook in search of assistance, posting a photo of Nikki and her poor stuffy with the caption:

"This is urgent and heartbreaking. This beautiful German shepherd dog has been wandering the streets with his toy stuffy in his mouth."
"We were told his owner passed away. The amazing South Lyon Murphy group will be on this mission to save him early Tuesday morning."

The post seeking a foster for Nikki, who was initially named Nicholas, as well as funds for tests and vaccinations quickly gained traction on social media.

Soon after, Almost Home added an update that stated Nikki was "safe and caught" by South Lyon Murphy Lost Animal Recovery. They also noted they received many applications to foster Nikki and promised an update post.

Well, earlier this week, they revealed Nikki was safe in her new home.

Almost Home shared their promised update which stated:

"Hi it’s me Nikki! Just checking in to let you know I’m with the bestest foster couple ever. Ones name is Daddy and the other ones name is Mommy."
"I was in really rough shape in the beginning. You see I have heartworm disease. I also have a lot of other medical issues but I’m seeing the vetSo I can be the best I can be."
"My fosters bought me lots of stuffies and yummy food. I wouldn’t eat anything the first couple of days. Mommy Cooked me a homemade dinner and I finally ate it all up."

Nikki is still going through some medical stuff because her "inside is pretty messed up," but nonetheless, she is full and happy.

Viewers of the post were ecstatic about the update and wished Nikki a speedy recovery.
