Their officiant was Francis Cobain's godfather, Michael Stipe, who was the lead singer for the 90s alt-rock band R.E.M.
Stipe played a significant role in helping to inspire her father as a mentor navigating the music scene during the nascent phase of Nirvana's meteoric rise to Indie rock fame.
The melding of iconic 90s celebrities on the heartwarming occasion resonated with the generations that grew up with them.

If this tweet was any more 90’s it’d be wearing a Freshjive beanie and doing a kickflip over Tabitha Soren wearing a shirt that said “As If” while ‘Basket Case’ played in the background.

Francis and Riley have reportedly been in a relationship since January 2021.
It is her second marriage and his first.
TMZ first broke the story of Francis's divorce from her first husband, musician Isaiah Silva, in March 2016 after they had been married for two years.
After taking a break from social media, Francis, whose mother is singer/songwriter and actor Courtney Love, returned to posting in January 2022.
The visual artist and model shared with followers a carousel of photos highlighting moments that have brought her “a great amount of joy,” including glimpses of her relationship with Riley, a pro street skater and frontman for his punk band Warish.
She captioned the carousel with:
"I took a year-long break from posting on Instagram which was exceptionally good for my mental, emotional & spiritual health."
"2021 brought me more into the present moment than I've ever been, which I'm deeply grateful for."
She added:
"I wanted to share a few moments that were captured/created this past year that brought me a great amount of joy."
"Here's to hoping everyone's 2022 is filled with the authentic connections, a lot of warmth & profound discovery of self 🥂 happy new year."
Cheers to the happy couple!
