After author John Green celebrated the book's 11-year anniversary, TikToker @yayakampen explained how she realized it contained some eerie parallels to her own life.

If you have read the John Green book, The Fault In Our Stars, you know first hand how heart-wrenching it is. To many of us we can't even begin to imagine what it would be like to know someone dying from cancer.

That became a reality for TikToker Yaya—@yayakampen—who fell in love with and married a woman with terminal bone cancer...or so she thought. She shared her story on TikTok where it went viral.

As it turns out, Yaya realized her wife was in fact not dealing with terminal cancer. She had been faking it all along.

In the video Yaya stated when she saw the movie The Fault In Our Stars, she noticed some similarities between the plot and her wife's life.

"As I'm watching the movie, I'm realizing that almost identical to the story plot is my wife's life."

This was a huge red flag for the woman and so she read Green's book.

After reading the book, she realized her wife even stole exact phrases from the book.

"I went back, read your book, and even the phrases that you used, she would use on the daily."

The viral video has had over eight million views and over six thousand comments.

The internet had a field day with the comments.

People were rightfully shocked.

Other people asked the question on everyone's mind.

Some people even gave Yaya's ex-wife some sage advice.

This just goes to show you, always trust your gut and if you think something is a red flag, listen!
