At Florida Event Trump Joked That 'the Storm' Was 'Right Behind' Him and Everyone Had the Same Response

At Florida Event Trump Joked That 'the Storm' Was 'Right Behind' Him and Everyone Had the Same Response
The White House

President Donald Trump held a round table in Florida on Friday to discuss the massive virus spike in the state as well as the fast-approaching Hurricane Isaias.

Trump boasted once again that the virus is under control despite the United States reaching over 150 thousand deaths and four million total cases.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis—another Republican leader who's been excoriated for his response to the virus—gave updates on the approaching hurricane, which is threatening at the very least to pummel Florida with tropical storm force winds.

Trump then gave his input on the storm.

Watch below.

The President said:

"And now we're just waiting for the storm and I guess it's right behind me, it's following me."

Ahead of the 2018 midterms, Democrats hoped for a "blue wave" that largely came to pass as Democrats took back the House of Representatives and gained a larger number of seats in the Senate than expected.

Multiple polls show Democratic nominee Joe Biden leading Trump in the 2020 election, often by double digits. Several swing states show Biden ahead as well. The former Vice President even marginally leads Trump in typically red states like Georgia and Texas.

Trump's approval rating has plummeted since the resurgence of the virus in the South.

If numbers like these hold, people agree that Trump will indeed be met with a storm come November.

But after Trump's unexpected victory in 2016, Democrats are anything but complacent.

The United States presidential election is on November 3rd—regardless of what the President says.
