It's no secret that having a baby will completely change a person's life, and planning for the extra responsibilities, financial costs and more can be a lot for a person to process.

But it's still nice when your partner can match your energy when you tell them that you're expecting.

Having just celebrated her son's first birthday, TikToker Madi Kenda was surprised to discover that she might be pregnant. Over the course of several videos, she took different quick-response pregnancy tests, and when they all came back positive, she started planning how to tell her husband.

In one video, the TikToker showed herself packing up a surprise box, including a baby bunny stuffed animal and the pregnancy tests, among other baby goodies, and she also made a sign announcing the new arrival and dressed her son in a blue onesie that read "Big Brother."

But the video that divided the internet came next, opening with the mom and son waiting for the TikToker's husband to arrive home from work.

When her husband arrives, he is excited to see there is a gift waiting for him, only to immediately walk away when he sees what is inside.

Off camera, he says:

"Aww, man, really? ...Okay."

He paces back into frame a few times before finally approaching his wife and giving her a one-armed hug and asking her if she is excited. When she says that she is, he says that it's great and kisses her on top of the head.

Some TikTokers empathized, stating that they would be crushed by the husband's reaction.

However, some pointed out that this was a valid reaction, and supported the couple in working through it together.

Having a baby is a big change for anyone, and it's reasonable that they would experience stress, excitement, and the whole emotional rainbow while planning for the baby's arrival.

But it also makes total sense why the internet was so divided over the dad's reaction. While he clearly needed processing time, some perceived his reaction as cold and unhappy, which would be alarming for anyone hoping to have a baby.

It's one of those situations where we really can't know someone and what they're thinking, especially from a short video.
