Alex Trebek's current contract as host of Jeopardy! ends in 2020, and he's not so sure he'll re-sign.
Trebek is 78 years old. He has been the host of Jeopardy! since 1984, and if he retires in 2020, he will have hosted the show for 36 years.
In January of this year, the show Tweeted a video sharing the news that Mr. Trebek had suffered a fall at the end of 2017 and underwent surgery for a subdural hematoma. Check out Trebek's video.
With his many years of involvement and recent health concerns, it's no wonder that Trebek is considering retirement. In fact, he has already suggested two replacements for his job.
His first suggestion is the LA Kings (hockey) announcer and his namesake, Alex Faust. He also suggested the CNN legal analyst, Laura Coates.
Both Faust and Coates were shocked to learn that Trebek had suggested them to take over the iconic job.
Twitter thinks that Trebek's suggestions are (unsurprisingly) brilliant.
But mostly people are still coping with the news of him potentially leaving.
