Wendy Williams Hit With Backlash Yet Again After Making Light Of Drew Carey's Ex-Fiancée's Murder

Wendy Williams Hit With Backlash Yet Again After Making Light Of Drew Carey's Ex-Fiancée's Murder
The Wendy Williams Show/Page Six

On a recent episode of The Wendy Williams Show, host Wendy Williams stirred up controversy after making light of the death of Dr. Amie Hardwick.

Hardwick was an author and sex therapist.

During the shows "Hot Takes" segment, Williams described the murder of Hardwick, who happened to be Drew Carey's ex-fiancée. It was met with shock from the audience, which increased further when Williams made a very tasteless joke about Hardwick's death.

You can see coverage of the latest Williams controversy here.

Hardwick was killed during a domestic violence incident with her ex-boyfriend who pushed her to her death from her own three story balcony. Gareth Pursehouse, whom she had recently broken up with, was taken into custody and charged with murder.

Hardwick had filed restraining orders against Pursehouse alleging abuse.

"She was killed—not by Drew—but by the ex," Williams said during the segment, referring to Pursehouse.

Williams went on to use Drew Carey's show Price Is Right's signature catchphrase—"Come on down!". This was punctuated with a look up and down, as though she was watching someone falling.

The "joke" was immediately met with silence and groans from the audience.

This isn't the first time Williams has caused an uproar on social media. She recently drew attention for having apparently passed gas during her show.

She denies these claims, stating she's "never farted on this show."

Last week she made another tasteless, ignorant comment, where she told gay men to "stop wearing our skirts and our heels" during a Galentine's Day segment drawing accusations of homophobia and transphobia. She recorded a tearful apology a day later.

For the Hardwick situation, it seems she has taken it too far again.

Hopefully Williams will finally learn from this one, and watch what she says in future episodes.

Domestic violence and murder are not joking matters.

Lauren Boebert In Hot Water After She's Busted Spending Campaign Funds On Kid Rock Concert Tickets

Colorado Republican Representative Lauren Boebert is facing criticism after Federal Election Commission (FEC) records showed she spent over $3,300 of her campaign funds on concert tickets and a hotel in Texas on the same weekend her once-rumored boyfriend—MAGA singer Kid Rock—was performing.

Boebert’s campaign reported expenses for a hotel stay in Arlington, Texas, and for event tickets purchased in May. On May 16, Boebert attended the Rock N Rodeo — part of the Professional Bull Riding Championship World Finals at AT&T Stadium — an event hosted by Kid Rock. She even shared a photo of herself with the singer on social media.
