Donald Trump was widely criticized for his attempt at slamming President Jimmy Carter just as news of Rosalynn going into hospice had been reported.

James Carter IV, the grandson of former President Jimmy Carter and the late First Lady Rosalynn Carter, issued a firm and classy response after former President Donald Trump criticized Jimmy Carter amid news that Rosalynn Carter, who died Sunday, was joining her husband in hospice.

Trump criticized President Joe Biden during remarks at a rally in Fort Dodge, Iowa, telling his supporters that “the happiest person anywhere in this country right now is Jimmy Carter because his administration looked brilliant compared to these clowns.”

Trump added that "Compared to Biden, Jimmy Carter was a brilliant, brilliant president."

You can hear Trump's remarks in the video below.

Shortly afterward, James Carter issued the following response:

"I hate that my grandfather’s name is in Trump’s mouth at all, but I am not offended. For a Democrat, being mocked by Trump is high praise."

You can see his post below.

Many appreciated James Carter for speaking out and offered their condolences as they slammed Trump for his insensitive remarks.

Rosalynn Carter passed away Sunday night at the age of 96 after transitioning to hospice care following a dementia diagnosis in the spring.

Rosalynn Carter, according to The Carter Center, peacefully departed, surrounded by her family after a life dedicated to advocating for mental health care, caregivers, and women’s rights. Her impactful role in reshaping the role of the first lady through her political activism during her husband Jimmy Carter’s presidential tenure remains a significant part of her legacy.

Married for an impressive 77 years, Jimmy Carter celebrated his late wife's incredible contributions, recognizing her as his “equal partner in everything I ever accomplished.”

The White House issued a statement honoring Rosalynn Carter late Sunday, noting that she "walked her own path, inspiring a nation and the world along the way."

President Biden and First Lady Jill Biden acknowledged they'd been friends with the Carters for more than four decades, noting that Rosalynn Carter "was a champion for equal rights and opportunities for women and girls; an advocate for mental health and wellness for every person; and a supporter of the often unseen and uncompensated caregivers of our children, aging loved ones, and people with disabilities."

Conservatives Predictably Outraged After Mattel Introduces New Barbie With Type 1 Diabetes

Conservatives lashed out at toymaker Mattel after the company introduced a new Barbie doll with Type 1 diabetes, including an insulin pump and blood sugar tracker—an action they say is "woke" while not understanding the difference between Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes.

Mattel revealed a new partnership with Breakthrough T1D— formerly known as the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation—to launch a Barbie doll that authentically represents people living with Type 1 diabetes. The collaboration, Mattel said, ensures the doll “truly captures the community,” including accessories that “accurately reflect the medical equipment” commonly used by individuals with the condition.

MAGA Influencer Charlie Kirk Called Out After Blaming DEI For High Death Toll In Texas Flooding Disaster

Turning Point USA founder and MAGA influencer Charlie Kirk was harshly criticized after he claimed the death toll in the flash floods that have devastated central Texas "would not have been as high if it wasn't for DEI," ridiculously suggesting that principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion were responsible.

Kirk's comments are reflective of President Donald Trump’s broader push to dismantle federal programs focused on diversity and inclusion—part of what he pledged in his inaugural address would be a campaign to stop attempts to “socially engineer race and gender into every aspect of public and private life.”
