The Internet Hits Back After Bill Maher Dismisses Stan Lee And Comic Books As 'Stupid Stuff'

Stan Lee is revered in pop culture in the age where Marvel has taken over cinema. So it wasn't wise for the proverbial bull, Bill Maher, to mess with Lee and his life's work.

Bill Maher decided to tear down Stan Lee in a blog post that literally nobody asked for called "Adulting".

"The guy who created Spider-Man and the Hulk has died, and America is in mourning. Deep, deep mourning for a man who inspired millions to, I don't know, watch a movie, I guess. Someone on Reddit posted, 'I'm so incredibly grateful I lived in a world that included Stan Lee.' Personally, I'm grateful I lived in a world that included oxygen and trees, but to each his own," wrote the comic in a snarky tone that did not please the general public."

Maher seemed to take issue with the fact that "they [fans] pretended comic books were actually sophisticated literature" and ignored the greater responsibilities of life--a sentiment that largely echoes the values of 80s Reagan-era conservatism, drawing a distinct line between the things "for adults" and the things "for children" with little-to-no room for overlap.

One of Bill Maher's favorite pastimes is stoking the fire, but it's impossible to tell whether or not he's kidding in this instance.

Either way, nobody had patience for it.

Will this be the nail in Maher's smarmy, smug coffin?

Working Mom Gets Emotional After Realizing She's Missing All Her Baby's Major Milestones

Anyone who has raised children or is regularly around children can attest that they truly do grow up so fast.

That's what makes it so hard for new parents to go back to work after having a baby. It's not necessarily balancing the new responsibilities of parenthood with their preexisting responsibilities as a working adult, in an office and at home. It's the fact that they're going to miss out on some of the first moments and milestones with their children, which they can't ever get back.
