MTG Just Showed She Knows Nothing About Batman With Cringey New York City Diss

The MAGA Rep. tried to call out the crime rate in the city with a 'Batman' comparison that left people shaking their heads.

Georgia Republican Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene traveled to New York City to protest the arrest and arraignment of former Republican President Donald Trump.

She criticized the city as a crime-ridden Democratic hub and specifically targeted Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg and New York City Mayor Eric Adams for her ire.

During her visit, Greene also tweeted, "New York City looks like Gotham City," without realizing Gotham City is actually based on New York City and has been a nickname for the city since the early 19th century.

According to Bill Finger, the original writer of the Batman comics, he came up with the name "Gotham City" for the fictional home of the superhero after being inspired by the architecture of New York City.

You can see her tweet below.

Finger intentionally avoided naming Batman's home New York City to allow people in other cities to identify with the tale.

However, Greene's tweet showed her ignorance of the connection between Gotham City and New York City.

Greene's comments highlight the importance of politicians having a deeper understanding of the history and culture of the cities they represent and visit, instead of relying on superficial stereotypes and talking points.

Many mocked her tweet as a result.

On Tuesday afternoon, the ex-President turned himself in at the Manhattan Criminal Court and was taken into custody.

He has been accused of committing 34 felony charges, which include the fabrication of business records to conceal a payment of $130,000 made to adult film actress Stormy Daniels in the last days of his 2016 presidential campaign, allegedly to keep her from revealing their alleged affair.

Trump and his legal team maintain he did nothing wrong in connection to the payment.

Greene was criticized earlier after she compared Trump's imminent arraignment on criminal charges to the arrests of Nelson Mandela and Jesus Christ, saying he was "joining some of the most incredible people in history being arrested today," adding that he had "done nothing wrong."
