Steve Harvey Was Involved In Yet Another Cringeworthy Flub At The Miss Universe Pageant

Steve Harvey Was Involved In Yet Another Cringeworthy Flub At The Miss Universe Pageant

Steve Harvey and Miss Universe have this strange, ongoing relationship of someone giving false information.

Harvey nearly repeated history this week when it was believed that he gave the wrong name at the Miss Universe competition, again.

During the televised ceremony, Harvey was standing on stage alongside Miss Malaysia.

He announced that the winner of the Best National Costume contest was Miss Philippines and an image of her appeared on the stage screen.

Harvey then turned to Miss Malaysia at his side and said:

"This is it right here."

He introduced her as Miss Philippines and began complimenting her outfit.

Miss Malaysia, Shweta Sekhon, then interrupted him and said, with confidence:

"This is not the Philippines. This is Malaysia."

A very agitated Harvey turned back to the camera and the audience and said:

"Let me explain something to you. I just read that in the teleprompter. Y'all got to quit doing this to me. I can read... Now, they are trying to fix it now. See? This is what they did to me back in 2015, played me short like that."

Harvey's statement was met with laughter, while he was clearly very flustered with the mix-up.

Here were some of the initial reactions:

As it turns out, though, Steve Harvey did not repeat his cringeworthy mistake from 2015 when he read the wrong name from the card announcing who had won the title, which you can watch below:

During the live broadcast of the show, the official Miss Universe account tweeted:

"Voted BEST National Costume... Malaysia!"

Later, with all of the confusion and jabs toward Steve Harvey, the Miss Universe account tweeted again to amend the situation.

They wrote:

"@IAmSteveHarvey had it right: Miss Universe Philippines Gazini Ganados is the winner of the #MissUniverse2019 National Costume competition! Congratulations, Gazini."

It was also confirmed that the information posted on Twitter was not mirrored on the teleprompter.

While the Miss Universe account tweeted that the winner was Malaysia, Steve Harvey was correct in reading and stating that the winner was the Philippines.

Viewers are a mixture of confused and frustrated with what happened at the end of the contest.

Some are also recommending, whether or not this was Steve Harvey's fault, that it's time for him to move on from the show, while he's still ahead.

Others are taking the moment with a grain of salt and showing Harvey a little support.

Whether it was an actual flub-up, a jab at Harvey's mistake four years ago, or an attempt at an inside-joke, we know one thing for sure: Steve Harvey will surely be careful from now on.

CNN Panelist Epically Rips Conservative Pundit After He Tries To Downplay Epstein Files

Podcast host Leigh McGowan criticized conservative CNN panelist Scott Jennings on Monday over his cavalier attitude about the Justice Department's failure to release the Epstein files, calling his response “insane” and “horrifying.”

The DOJ has released less than 1% of the Epstein files. The department acknowledged that it has released just 12,285 documents—totaling 125,575 pages—related to Epstein, even though federal law required the bulk of those records to be made public by December 19.

New Data On How Trump Is Polling With Gen Z Is A Disastrous Wake-Up Call For His Administration

According to the latest polling data highlighted on CNN, President Donald Trump's support among Gen Z voters has fallen considerably—a remarkable shift in public opinion from a cohort whose support proved crucial to his 2024 election win.

Trump's 2024 campaign received a massive boost thanks to the efforts of Turning Point USA's Charlie Kirk, the far-right activist who was assassinated in September. Kirk galvanized the youth vote but those gains have not held steady since Trump entered office.
