The singer had a blunt response for 'Variety' to criticism after her 'Feather' music video got a Catholic priest stripped of his admin duties for allowing her to film in his Brooklyn church.

Sabrina Carpenter offered a blunt yet quite humorous response to criticism she faced after the music video for her song "Feather" resulted in a Catholic priest being relieved of his administrative duties.

Let's just say her own feathers were not ruffled.

Last week, it was reported that Brooklyn priest Monsignor Jamie J. Gigantiello was stripped of his admin duties within the Diocese of Brooklyn after allowing Carpenter to film the aforementioned video inside Blessed Virgin Mary church in Williamsburg.

The scenes filmed inside the church show the former Disney star celebrating the deaths of men previously seen in the video mansplaining, ogling and displaying toxic male behavior in general. In the video that dropped on Halloween, Carpenter dances around their coffins in front of the altar dressed in a black tulle minidress and matching veil.

Brooklyn Bishop Robert Brennan released an official statement to the Catholic News Agency, which read:

The parish did not follow diocesan policy regarding the filming on Church property, which includes a review of the scenes and script.

Gigantiello, however, maintains that he had "no knowledge that such a scene" was going to be filmed there.

In a statement posted to Facebook, he wrote:

“The parish staff and I were not aware that anything provocative was occurring in the church nor were we aware that faux coffins and other funeral items would be placed in the sanctuary. Most of the video was supposed to be filmed outside, which it was."
“While I take full responsibility for the erroneous decision to allow filming, I want to assure you that I had no knowledge that such a scene would be filmed in our church which we worked so hard to restore to its present sacred beauty.”

So, you may be wondering what Carpenter feels about all this.

Well, according to what she told Variety... not very much.

“We got approval in advance.”

She then quipped:

"And Jesus was a carpenter.”

People on social media could not get over her brutal response, specifically that last line.

Carpenter just released her holiday EP "Fruitcake" on the 17th.

Up next for the Girl Meets World star is rejoining Taylor Swift on tour in February.

And she is still pinching herself.

“I never would have expected that going on a tour would have amplified the songs the way that it did.”
“And I just feel lucky that people have found them in different places and now see them in different lights."
"I’m just as astounded as anyone else.”
