Disney princesses are one of those things that doesn't seem like it would be super divisive, but it kind of is. People seem to either love them or think of them as symbolic of everything wrong with society ever. If you're one of those people who is all up in your passions about these princesses, you're not the only one.
People got together to confess their unfiltered thoughts on Disney princesses and the results made us laugh, cringe, and everything in between.

1. We're Over All The Blonde Beauties.
I secretly dislike any blonde princess and get mad every time Disney doesn't make a black-haired princess.

2. Beauty and the Meh.
I didn't care for Beauty and the Beast until I saw Emma Watson as Belle. She made me appreciate the character so much.

3. Representation Matters
I am transgender and I watched Mulan every night before bed before I transitioned. Listening to the song Reflection just made me feel so accepted, like that someone felt the same thing as I did. It helped me get through it.

4. Gabriella
So many people want a disabled princess, I think she should be similar to Gabriella from The Little Mermaid series (or at least handled in the same manner, with as much effort or more given to a disabled princess.) She was a tribute to a fan that died and was a deaf mermaid who spoke real ASL. She's an amazing character and I would love a princess, heroine, or character similar to Gabriella.

5. More Princess To Love
I really hope that one day Disney will have a plus sized heroine. I always wanted a princess or heroine who wasn't the butt of a joke or the villain who had a similar body type to me when I was younger, but I don't think that will ever happen.

6. She's Belle Until She Speaks Up
My 2-year-old doesn't share the same love of Beauty and the Beast as I do, but I still dress her in all the Belle clothing I can find and I will continue to do so until she asks for another character.

7. Where Is The Love?
I love what Disney has been doing with all the girl power and happy, cool endings with their new princess movies, but if I'm being completely honest, I really miss the whole love story aspect they had. I don't care if it's a princess with a prince, a princes with a princess, or a prince with a prince. I really just want to watch something that will make me say "Aww they're such a great pair" again.

8. Merida, Brave Merida!
Merida from Brave has encouraged me to be more confident in myself, independence, and heritage. My family history traces back to celtic tribes similar to her kingdom. I have even picked up archery to get in tune with my ancestors and gain inner strength. This movie has taken me so far and means the world to me. I know I'm strong enough to write my own story, follow my heart, and find love in my own time.

9. Wow. That's Fandom.
I love Disney so much, it has influenced everything from my career choices, to the naming of my child. Her middle name is Snow and our last name is White. I could NOT pass up the opportunity.

10. Being This Important Is Exhausting
Like I get if people dont like Tiana but I really hate how people dont understand why she is important. Not only is she the only African-American character that was the star of her own movie but shes the only black princess in the Disney line-up. With the way the world is treating black people and children, its even more that there are black heroes within media. You dont have to like Tiana but you at least have to realize how important she is to people.

11. The Dress Was Her Mothers! Pardon Us While We Ugly-Cry
The scene in Cinderella where the stepsisters tear up her dress makes me want to cry. She really thought for once her stepmother was being kind, her friends spent probably hours making that dress, and it was her mothers, probably the only memento she had. Thats why I have so much appreciation for Cinderella for all the garbage she went through yet still held onto hope

12. Legit Tears
I went to Disney World recently during Hurricane Irma. The day before, I met Elena of Avalor. Im in my mid twenties, but Id say Elena is a personal hero. When I met her, because the park was so deserted, I had about six minutes with her and it was great. She signed my Elena lunchbox and told me about the Jacquins and we talked about my Elena flower comb in my hair. I legit cried when she hugged me. It was the best time I ever had at Disney World. I love Elena, shes my favorite princess!

13. An Older Princess Is Still A Princess
It bothers me to see that some people in the fandom are against the idea of an older (21+) Disney Princess. The argument I see most often is that kids will not want to watch a movie with an old princess because they will not be able to relate to them but Ive loved the Disney Princesses since I was very little and always thought they were a lot older than their canon ages!

14. Ariel Don't Need No Man
It bothers me greatly that people forget Ariel wanted to be human LONG before she met Eric. Even Part of Your World was sung before she ever met him. Eric was just more or less the final catalyst that gave her the drive to be on the surface.

15. But He's So Serious
Pocahontas was probably the most boring Disney movie Ive ever seen. Im sorry. The only good thing that came out of that was Meeko and Flit. Also, John Smith sucked. And Pocahontas totally shouldve gotten together with Kocoum.

16. Ahh, Young Racism
When I was six, Jasmine and Pocahontas were the only princesses of color at the time. Whenever I played "princess with the kids in my predominantly white neighborhood, I wanted to be Ariel because I loved to swim, but was told by the same kids I could only be Jasmine or Pocahontas because I wasnt white. It was one of the first times I was made aware of my race.

17. Do We Have To Petition Or What?
Im always ticked off when I see any Mulan merch because shes always in her wedding or casual dress. I love Mulan, especially because she was a warrior and a badass that saved China. Show her in her armor, Disney, please Im begging
