Try as I might, I can't help but smile when I see the first flowers bloom come springtime. My feelings grow more pronounced after a few weeks, when all the trees are lush with foliage and winter has gone on its weary way. On the opposite end, there's something about the crisp richness of fall that makes my heart sing. Perhaps it's the reprieve from the summer or just the general sense of relaxation in the air.

After Redditor craftbot9000 asked the online community, "What is something that never fails to make you smile?" people shared their stories.

"I feel so relaxed..."

Random but I feel like I'm in my best mood on a Saturday or Sunday eating brunch. I feel so relaxed and happy sipping on coffee and eating breakfast food.

CrispyCrunchyPoptart

"Never gets old."

My girlfriend telling me a "quick story" and then getting really excited about it and going into every back story that relates to it, for at least 15 minutes. Happens every day, and those moments are the most relaxed and happy I've ever been. Never gets old.

mroeder98

"I'm tired..."

Coming home to my cat. I'm tired, I'm hungry, but there she is. Practically jumping into my arms because she missed me.

Blueallan

When I did have a cat...

...my cat always made me beam the second I came home. He was always so happy!

"She has the most magical effect..."

My wife. She has the most magical effect on me every time I even think about her. She's so amazing.

"My life could be a trainwreck..."

My kids laughing.

My life could be a trainwreck, and just hearing my kids laughing and playing together is something that will never fail to crack a smile on my face.

csjohnson

This is sweet!

Some people are meant to be parents.

"She makes the world..."

My wife. She makes the world a little more sunny and my burdens lighter. Her laughing at my silly jokes fills an inner need I didn't know I had.

Booterken

"It's so bright..."

Astronomer here! I'll often go out of my way to look up ISS passes at my house and set a timer to run out and see it if it's a good pass in the evening. It's so bright you can't miss it, and I'm always just amazed to think there are people up there! I know they can't see me, but I always wave anyway.

Andromeda321

This is so wholesome.

Makes me want to pay more attention to the stars. Time to check out when the ISS passes by me!

"She's way smarter than me..."

When my sister asks me for advice about something. She's way smarter than me and always helped me along. Getting the chance to advise her on something I know more about than her gives me a high for days.

voice-of-craisin

"Or trying really hard..."

Babies squealing with excitement. Or sleeping. Or trying really hard to roll over or crawl or grasp things.

Babies are awesome.

YoshiAndHisRightFoot

"I just can't help myself..."

When people kiss me on my cheek. I just can't help myself, the smile comes to my face. There's something so sweet and wholesome about a cheek kiss. And it makes me feel loved.

Nightstar49

And there you have it.

There's always something out there to appreciate. You don't have to think long and hard either. It's often the little things.

What makes you smile? Feel free to tell us all about it in the comments below!

Woman Stunned After Best Friend Of 23 Years Ends Friendship Over Her 'Mom Shorts'

We will all have friends who come into our lives for a reason, for a season, or for a lifetime. There are those situational friendships, like from work or school, that dissolve when we exit that space, and there are friendships that might form from knowing the same people.

Then there are those tried-and-true friendships that we think will truly stand the test of time—but even those sometimes fracture under pressure. And sometimes for the most ridiculous reasons.

MAGA Fumes Over Fox Gun Control Talk

The nation is reeling after yesterday’s mass shooting at Annunciation Church in Minneapolis, where a gunman opened fire during a Catholic school Mass, killing two children and injuring more than a dozen others. The tragedy has not only shaken the community but also reignited the national debate over guns in America—this time sparked by an unlikely voice.

Former Republican congressman and Fox News host of Sunday Night in America, Trey Gowdy—long seen as a staunch defender of gun rights and a past recipient of National Rifle Association contributions—surprised many of his own allies when he called for a national reckoning on firearms access.
