Pedro Pascal Hilariously Called Out Dakota Johnson For Forgetting She'd Met Him Before

After previously bonding at the 2014 Golden Globes, Pascal says his Materialists costar seemed not to know who he was several years later at the Met Gala—and he hasn't let her live it down.

Hollywood shining star Pedro Pascal is among those everyone wishes they could befriend, date, or be. So much so, it's hard to imagine anyone ever overlooking him, let alone forgetting about him.

But we forget that when celebrities meet their fellow celebrities, it doesn't carry the same impact as it would to a fan.

During an interview with Elle UK, Pedro Pascal shared interview questions with Dakota Johnson, who he's starring opposite, alongside Chris Evans, in the upcoming A24 rom-com Materialists.

One of the stories covered how the pair met, which Johnson immediately buffered with:

"According to whose truth? Do you want your story or my story?"

Because while Johnson did not believe it, according to Pascal, they had met before Materialists at The Met, and another time before that at the 2014 Golden Globes.

Pascal reminisced to an indignant Johnson:

"It was the Golden Globes 2014. It wasn’t during the ceremony; it was the after bit, when they usher you out and you go directly into some kind of HBO party."
"You knew Sarah [Paulsen] and so met me, and you were on your own. They probably wouldn’t give you a plus one. So, we banded together, and we looked after you."

Johnson still didn't believe it.

"That's so crazy that I don't remember meeting you there. It feels like something substantial happened to me that night, and I'm blocking it out."

When they met ten years later at the Met Gala in 2024, Pascal realized that his fellow star had no memory of him.

"I loved you the first time [I met you], and then I didn’t think you were that nice to me at the Met Gala."
"You weren’t mean, but I was building the interaction of having already met you."
"And I had a moment of feeling a little stupid because it was like, ‘Oh, she doesn’t remember me.’"

Snapshots of the written interview in Elle Magazine were posted to the "Pedro_Pascal" subReddit, which you can read here:

The upcoming film follows professional matchmaker Lucy, who hands out business cards to attractive and single potential matches, then interviews them to match them with "the one."

But even though she's responsible for nine weddings, she cannot keep her own love life straight, weighing whether to start things up again with a previous partner (Evans) or start up something new with a rich "unicorn" who has everything to offer her (Pascal).

You can see a little more of the interview here:

And you can see the preview for Materialistshere.

While fans didn't have a lot to say about their first, or third, interaction, they were excited for the film and rooted for Johnson's character, Lucy, to end up with Pascal's character, Harry.

Though it's shocking to imagine someone not remembering meeting Pedro Pascal, it's amazing to see where their friendship is now, and people will absolutely be rooting for their on-screen romance in their upcoming collaboration.

People Break Down The 'Silent Red Flags' Folks Tend To Ignore In Relationships

A red flag has come to mean any warning sign in life, in addition to the literal red flags that are placed on beaches or industrial sites to warn people of danger.

People will respond to situations by saying, "That’s a red flag." But before that language evolved, they'd just call them "warning signs."
