Parkland Students Are Showing Their Disdain for Their New Clear Backpacks

Parkland Students Are Showing Their Disdain for Their New Clear Backpacks

As a result of the February 14 shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School which claimed the lives of 17 people, increased security measures have been put in place to help protect the children sent there to learn. Some of the measures are less practical than others, however. For instance, the high school recently instituted a rule which requires all students to store their things in a clear, plastic backpack, which was provided by the school. Students weren't at all thrilled about the new rule and questioned its logic on Twitter.

In fact, students at MSDH are pretty tired of most of the added security measures.

In many of their opinions, the money spent on backpacks would have been much better elsewhere.

The clear backpacks certainly seem like they might work better in theory than in practice.

Case in point:

Plus, everyone gets to see all your possessions! Fun!

It will certainly make certain standard school moments a bit more awkward...

At the end of the day, however, the issue foremost in the mind of Parkland students is still gun control.

They believe gun reform is the only real solution to gun violence.

So were the backpacks a good idea?
