Donald Trump Jr. Just Went After Beto O'Rourke for His Ethnicity, and People Are Calling Out His Hypocrisy

Awkward.

Donald Trump Jr. came under fire Monday morning for attacking Beto O'Rourke, the Texas Democrat looking to unseat Senator Ted Cruz (R) in November, over his name.

"What’s authentic about an Irish guy pretending to be Hispanic?" Trump Jr. said in a tweet. "Asking for some friend [sic] Texas." Junior doesn't have time for prepositions.

The missing 'no' got a nod.

O'Rourke's full legal name is Robert Francis O'Rourke. Going by Beto is not a ploy to sound Spanish. A fourth-generation Irish-American, "Beto" is the nickname his family gave him as a child to distinguish him from his grandfather, after whom he was named.

Meanwhile, Trump Jr. is getting pummelled on Twitter for his endorsement of Canadian-born Cruz, whose first name isn't Ted - it's Rafael. And he calls himself Ted for almost the exact same reason O'Rourke goes by Beto: to distinguish himself from his father, Rafael Sr.

"Aren’t you supporting a Canadian guy named Rafael that goes by Ted?" one user wrote. "Idiot."

Before he was president, Donald Trump himself thought Cruz was inauthentic.

Beto is a common nickname in Texas; is this the best Junior can do?

Junior got nailed for his own authenticity problems too.

Trump isn't the presidential family's original name. It was Drumpf (yes really).

"You don't have any friends" became a recurring theme.

Michael Avenatti wasn't going to miss this chance to dig into Trump Jr. either.

"Can you confirm that you have no reason to believe that you are about to be indicted for making false stmts to federal agents?" the attorney asked. "Asking for some friends."

He added: "Btw, this could not happen to a nicer guy. Will your father continue his corruption pattern and pardon you?"

Come on, Junior. Be best.

Fox News personality Jesse Watters was dragged after questioning Democratic vice presidential nominee Tim Walz's "masculinity" due to how he drinks a shake, implying that the fact that Walz drinks his vanilla shakes with a straw is evidence that he's not "masculine" enough to potentially hold one of the nation's highest offices.

Watters suggested that Walz—who is happily married and is the father of two children—is so unmasculine that he's not appealing to women at all.
