An unarmed American drone was shot down earlier this week by Iran's Revolutionary Guard, which claimed the drone was in Iranian airspace. President Donald Trump tweeted soon after that Iran had made a "big mistake," before backtracking and saying that someone on a lower tier of command likely acted alone.
As Americans speculated on whether or not the president's next move would tip us into war with Iran, Trump reportedly had indeed called for a retaliatory strike Thursday night, before calling it off at the last minute.
He confirmed the reporting in a chilling series of tweets.
It's possible that Trump was just bragging about his decision to stop the attack only 10 minutes before, of course, but the admission that he didn't ask about casualties until right before the strikes had many asking the same concern.
Others thought Trump was simply making the whole thing up.
The new course of action is yet to be known, but hopefully the president will ask the pressing questions sooner than 10 minutes before.
