Couple Finds Message In A Bottle On A Beach—And Make An Awkward Discovery After Opening It

TikTok couple Rick and Crystal emptied the bottle out to try to see the message inside, only to realize it had contained a man's ashes.

Thanks to the '90s and early 2000s, the idea of finding a message in a bottle is a wildly romantic idea. Who knows what long-lost cousin or forbidden love of our lives we might discover when we find one of these?

But in all reality, finding a message in a bottle may not be all that romantic. One couple discovered, in fact, that it would be best to leave it alone.

While walking along the beach, Rick and Crystal of @auslapourway on TikTok noticed a bottle floating in with the tide. When they realized there was something inside, they began recording a video to reveal the contents.

Rick can be heard saying:

"We're seeing a bottle here. It looks like it's got a message in it."

But the bottle was not at all what they expected.

Still recording, Rick retrieved the bottle from the ocean before passing it off to Crystal, who began opening it on camera. After struggling with the cap for a moment, Crystal questioned how they would get the paper out and began dumping the sand out.

Unable to get the paper out, Rick continued to record the video with one hand while shaking the bottle with the other, knocking the rest of the sand out, though the piece of paper remained lodged inside.

More curious than ever, Crystal tried a different tactic.

Crystal turned the bottle over and attempted to read through the dirty glass before discovering their mistake.

"'Here lies...'Oh! They're ashes! Oh no!"
"'Here lies the ashes of Geoffrey. If found, please throw bottle into outgoing tide so I can continue my journey."

The camera then caught a shocked-looking Crystal on screen before the video ended.

People have all kinds of wishes for when they've passed away, and special wishes for where to spread ashes are nothing new.

But it seems that if someone wanted to travel the world in a bottle, they would mark the outside of the bottle in some way, or glue the bottle shut, so that it wouldn't accidentally be opened and result in an anticlimactic ending to their journey around the globe.

Lesson learned.

Stephen Colbert Makes Somber Plea To Americans In Wake Of Charlie Kirk's Death

Late-night host Stephen Colbert had a somber message for Americans as he addressed the assassination of far-right activist Charlie Kirk, stressing that "political violence only leads to more political violence."

Kirk died after an unidentified gunman shot him in the neck as he—ironically enough—mocked victims of gun violence at an event in Utah Valley State University. Kirk's murder has galvanized the far-right, with President Donald Trump and his surrogates claiming without evidence that rhetoric from Democrats is responsible for Kirk's death.

TikToker Hilariously Calls Out Target After Champion Pants Feature Awkwardly-Placed Front Pleat

Sometimes you can just tell when something was designed *for* women, but was not actually designed *by* women.

Take, for instance, the new pleated pants available at Target from the Champion clothing line. While there's nothing wrong with pleated pants and they certainly have a suitable spot in the workplace, the latest rendition of Champion pleated pants are, shall we say, NSFW.

Woman Goes Viral After Revealing How Her Obsession With Matcha Landed Her In The Hospital

Let's be honest: Too much of anything isn't good for us. It's all about the balance!

But the media and social media trends have taught us that certain things are really good for us, encouraging us to be like the "very mindful and very demure" girls and take care of ourselves. One such example is drinking more matcha, especially if you really like coffee or think you have a caffeine addiction.
