Democrats celebrated after the 2020 election saw the party retake the White House and gain a razor-thin majority of seats in Congress, but it wasn't all good news.

That election saw a new wave of Trump-inspired right-wing conspiracy theorists like Representatives Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia and Lauren Boebert of Colorado sworn in, while seasoned Congressmembers like Representative Paul Gosar of Arizona and Senator Ron Johnson of Wisconsin were newly-emboldened.

The unapologetic extremism among far-right representatives has prompted House Democrats to take drastic measures in the effort to curb threats and conspiracy theories from further infecting the public discourse. Greene was stripped of her committee assignments after multiple posts from before her election—endorsing conspiracy theories and calls for violence against her future colleagues—resurfaced.

Gosar saw the same fate after he shared a cartoon of him and other right-wing lawmakers killing Democratic Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York and attacking President Joe Biden with knives.

Democratic lawmakers called for Boebert's committee removal after she made despicable jokes insinuating that Democratic Congresswoman Ilhan Omar of Minnesota—one of the first Muslim women elected to Congress—was a suicide bomber.

In all of these instances, Republican House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy condemned the actions of those caucus members but railed against House Democrats for taking steps to hold them accountable.

Now, McCarthy is naming Democrats he'd like to see removed from their committees if Republicans retake the House after the 2022 midterms.

In a recent interview with the far-right publication Breitbart, McCarthy suggested that, as Speaker, he would remove Representative Omar, along with Eric Swalwell and Adam Schiff, both of California.

McCarthy said:

"Never in the history [of Congress] have you had the majority tell the minority who can be on committee. But this new standard which these Democrats have voted for — if Eric Swalwell cannot get a security clearance in the private sector, there is no reason why he should be given one to be on Intel or Homeland Security. He will not be serving there...Ilhan Omar should not be serving on Foreign Affairs,” McCarthy added. “This is a new level of what the Democrats have done.”

Unlike the two Republicans removed from their committees last year, none of these members have threatened the lives of their colleagues.

Social media users weren't having it.

McCarthy's comments had some people even more resolute to vote for Democrats in 2022.

Just the motivation that was needed?

AOC Saves The Day By Giving Bronx Middle School Group A Tour Of The Capitol Amid Shutdown

New York Democratic Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez had people cheering after she stepped in to act as tour guide after a group of middle schoolers from the Bronx pulled up to the Capitol hours after the U.S. government officially shut down.

The federal government shut down early Wednesday after the White House and Congress failed to reach an agreement on federal spending. While Senate Democrats are in the minority, they hold enough seats to filibuster and are insisting that Republicans agree to extend federal subsidies for people insured under the Affordable Care Act.

GOP Lawmaker Sparks Outrage After Calling For Dem Rep. To Be Executed For Urging People To Protest Trump

On Wednesday, September 25, an Arizona MAGA Republican state Representative publicly called for the execution of Washington Democratic Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal because she urged anyone displeased with MAGA Republican President Donald Trump's job performance to exercise their First Amendment right to free speech and to protest.

Apparently, urging citizens to make their voices heard was a step too far for Arizona state GOP Representative John Gillette, who responded to a clip edited out of a longer video by right-wing account The Patriot Oasis (TPO). A quick scan through Gillette's X account media posts will reveal his political leanings.

Liberal TikToker Mortified After Discovering That Her Therapist Is Hardcore MAGA

There used to be a time where politics did not have to come into every room or be a part of every conversation. But in a world with President Trump and MAGA, it's not as simple as being Red, Blue, or Green anymore.

Now, the sociopolitical climate is dangerous for many people and still very stress-inducing for others. It's important to surround ourselves with people who make us feel safe and seen—and unfortunately, that might mean cutting out people who have "different beliefs" than we do.
