More than a year since losing the 2020 presidential election to then-Democratic nominee Joe Biden, former President Donald Trump continues to falsely insist that he's the legitimate winner.Trump's lies that Democrats conspired with election companies and foreign adversaries culminated in a deadly failed insurrection against the United States Capitol.
A key part of Trump's smears against the democratic process is his claim that voter fraud—an overwhelmingly rare phenomenon in the United States—is rampant throughout the country.
But as it turns out, an increasing number of confirmed "voter fraud" stories actually seems to be emerging from the GOP itself, with multiple offenses committed by Trump supporters and registered Republicans.
Now, a former aide to the ex-President has reportedly continued that tradition.
According to a report from the Associated Press, Matt Mowers, a former senior adviser in Trump's cabinet and current New Hampshire congressional candidate, voted multiple times in multiple states in the 2016 Republican primaries.
Through a public records request, the AP uncovered that Mowers voted absentee in New Hampshire early on, presumably for New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, whose campaign Mowers was working on at the time. After Christie dropped out, Mowers reportedly used his parents' address to vote in the primaries again, this time in New Jersey.
According to the Associated Press:
"Legal experts say Mowers’ actions could violate a federal law that prohibits 'voting more than once' in 'any general, special, or primary election.' That includes casting a ballot in separate jurisdictions 'for an election to the same candidacy or office.'"
It was the latest instance of a Trump ally committing the very same type of fraud that the former President has used to smear the validity of American democracy.
But people weren't exactly surprised.

Others called for Mowers to face legal consequences.
Statute of limitations has run out AND he’s running for Congress! He should be in prison so of course Republicans will embrace him. https://t.co/irNTXkMR7h
