Left-Handed People Reveal The Struggles They Face On A Daily Basis

Always being left leaning can be troublesome.

Embrace it, you were born this way baby! Being left handed comes with the roll of the genetic dice. Many people see it as a lottery win others as a curse. Many left handed people have trained themselves to write with their right hand; as it seems we live in a right handed world. There is a real struggle to what can be an awkward situation. But fear not lefties you're in good company. There are many of you in the battle.... President Barack Obama, Robert DeNiro, Angelina Jolie, Prince William, Keanu Reeves, Julia Roberts and many more.

Redditor u/Vulltarex wanted all the lefties out there to speak up by asking.... Lefties of Reddit, what are some struggles on a daily basis that are caused by being left-handed?

The Right hates us!

Eating whilst sitting beside a right-handed person. Vyrinu

My husband is left handed, I'm right handed. We've known each other for about 8 years and we still do this whenever we eat out. iamfranfine

The Cut Above....

Some mouses are designed for the other 'team' so it feels awkward. Just like some scissors. Some buses and trains have handles/rails on the right side only when facing forward. Some restaurants/places with French doors have the right one only open. earthly_marsian

You use a mouse with your left hand? Jeez, dedicated to the cause... with guitar and mice, I just learned how to do it righty to save myself the aggravation.

Scissors can f**k right off though. curiousGambler

That Hook....

Struggle: the lefty hook. Most teachers [edit: at least back in my day, 90s] don't bother to accommodate left handed students, so when they're learning to write they are still told to tilt/slant the paper as if they were right handed. This makes it impossible to write unless you develop the lefty hook (or have the smarts as a 5-6yo to figure it out yourself and tilt the paper the other way). So lefties get a reputation of bad handwriting, but it's actually due to bad pedagogy,

Minor annoyances: all of the writing on pens/pencils/markers is upside down when you use your left hand, designs on coffee mugs face you instead of outward, pens at banks etc are often attached on the right side which makes it very awkward to use, can openers are right handed, sitting next to a righty while eating or writing is annoying, etc imeanjustsayin

The Upside Down...

I have to read my food thermometer upside down, but as a lefty it's just something we inherently know how to do. Sometimes people are impressed with my reading upside down super power, so I'm basically like Iron Man to righties.

Also my handwriting sucks if I have to write straight, but it's way better if I turn the paper. I never knew it was related, just thought it was how I liked to write. MyNameIsAnakin

Too Many Words....

Getting ink all over my hand whenever i write anything. Tim_on_coke

As a lefty I can completely vouch for this. My Jewish butt went to Hebrew school for a while, and I was so happy that Hebrew is written and read right-to-left lol. Renryhodin

Nowhere to sit....

Those school chairs with a table fixed on the right side of it. It is so uncomfortable when you are left-handed! emilie199764

I'd only ever been to one college class in person (the others were online), and I could not for the life of me figure out why writing on these little flip out tables was so dang difficult. I'm like hunched over trying to get at the right (lol) angle, my arm and hand is bent all weird and I look around and everyone's just leaning back writing casually. When I realized what it was I was just.... :( batistepembreton

BINDED!!

BINDERS! And three ring notebooks. The paper is put in on the right so if you want to write something on a paper in a binder you need to squish your hand between the two rings. You can take the paper out so it's not that big of a deal.

The notebooks are bad if you're writing on the right side page. sibzxcookie

Don't Shoot!

Went to a gun range when visiting Vegas from UK. Hot spent shells are launched towards you face and chest as I'm sighting with my left eye. d44nny

I dealt with this in basic training. Shells ejecting across my field of vision, not going as far to my right as someone who is holding the weapon on their right would have. They end up landing in my shoe or upturned pantleg.

Anything with a safety only on one side is kinda annoying too. Power tools with an extra handle that'll only attach on the left. At least most credit card terminals have the pen attached on the left but that just means you have to grab the pen from underneath otherwise the extra short cable is pulled under your arm and you lose range of motion on the pen. Such a Tool....

Power tools are designed to kill me. power-cube

I've said it a million times: F**king angle grinders, man. Dudurin

Seth Meyers Responds To Trump's 'Truly Deranged' Personal Attack Against Him With Hilarious Takedown

After President Donald Trump lashed out at late-night host Seth Meyers on Truth Social over the weekend and called him a "truly deranged lunatic," Meyers responded to Trump’s “ranting and raving” about him with a damning supercut on his program.

Trump apparently tuned in to Thursday night’s episode of Late Night with Seth Meyers, where Meyers poked fun at the president’s complaints about Navy aircraft carriers using electromagnetic catapults instead of traditional steam-powered ones. Meyers joked that Trump "spends more time thinking about catapults than Wile E. Coyote."

Girl's Hilarious Reaction To Getting Divisive Candy For Halloween Caught On Doorbell Cam

In the '80s and '90s, kids were raised with the understanding that they got what they got, and they should say, "Thank you," for what they received. This was true for birthdays, holidays, and trick-or-treating on Halloween, even if they got candy they wanted to throw away the instant they turned the corner.

But kids today are much more communicative about what they like and don't like, and they can be brutal in their bluntness.

MTG Just Admitted The Awkward Truth About The Republican Healthcare Plan On 'The View'

Speaking on The View, Georgia Republican Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene spoke about sparring with House Speaker Mike Johnson over healthcare—and revealed that the GOP does not have any replacement for the Affordable Care Act (ACA) despite what Johnson and her fellow congressional conservatives tell the public.

Democrats have continued to reject Republicans’ proposed continuing resolution to keep the government open without considering an extension of the premium tax credit that helps subsidize health insurance for people earning between 100% and 400% of the federal poverty level.

People Share The Best Ways To Shut Down A Debate With A Flat Earther Family Member

The Flat Earth conspiracy theory is strictly a modern online movement, rumored to have begun as a prank, that gained momentum among people who mistrust authority through the power of social media.

There is a persistent myth that Europeans in the Middle Ages believed the Earth was flat. But that is a 19th-century fabrication to sell Columbus Day, not historical reality.
