TikToker @mrsmessytiktok sparked concern from viewers after she stopped cleaning to prove to her husband that she's the only one who ever cleans up around the house.

A woman on TikTok fed up with being the only one to clean her family's home revealed she stopped cleaning for about a month to prove that she was the only one who put forth any effort to keep a tidy house.

Unfortunately, however, the TikToker didn't get the response she was hoping for. Instead, her husband threw away all of her cleaning supplies since she doesn't "clean anymore."

TikToker @mrsmessytiktok has chronicled some of her frustrations on the platform, but it seems as though she's received support from everyone except her spouse.

Before the creator's husband decided to trash all of her cleaning supplies, @mrsmessytiktok shared that she stopped doing the laundry to "show him if I stop doing laundry, it piles up quickly."

She revealed he simply responded:

"Well, if you were better at doing stuff around the house, it would always look neat."

You can watch that one below.

When that strategy had no effect, the TikToker said in another video that she stopped "touching stuff he leaves everywhere," but judging by the footage, that didn't seem to help either.

After about a month of the TikToker's cleaning strike, her husband did actually clean up...but not after himself.

She shared in another follow-up that in protest to her refusal to clean, the creator's husband threw out all of her cleaning supplies.

The text overlay read:

"About a month ago I stopped cleaning the house and putting away clean laundry to prove to my husband that I was the only one doing everything this whole time."

It continued:

"He freaked out and started throwing away my cleaning supplies."
"He says I won't need it since I don't clean anymore."

To say that viewers of the TikTok were infuriated is an understatement, and many advised the creator to deeply assess the relationship as it appeared to be an insanely toxic one.

Many also wondered what exactly he was trying to prove by throwing away all of the cleaning supplies.

The TikToker hasn't responded to request for comment, but based on her recent feed, it appears that she did eventually take out the trash...

Some of her newer videos reveal she left an abusive relationship and met "a man who has changed my life."

Good for her!
